The Tecno POP 1S has been introduced by Tecno Mobile as the upgraded variant of the first POP 1 device which was introduced by the company couple of weeks ago.
Unlike the first version, the POP 1S brings “FullView for FullFun” dishing out an 18:9 aspect ratio screen. Furthermore, it runs on Android 8.1 Oreo Go Edition and has “Rapid 4G LTE” connectivity.
Design
Just like the first version, the POP 1S has an elegant design focusing on the youth. It sports dual curved antenna lines, theres one on top and another at the bottom. At the top left corner, we can see the rear camera with dual-LED flash underneath.
There’s a fingerprint scanner in its usual position, this helps keep your data safe and lets you take selfies. It measures 8.6mm in thickness when you turn to the sides. The device will be available in Gold, Blue and Black.
Display
To the highlight of the device, the POP 1S sports a gorgeous Full View display, this is attractive for those on a budget to play games and watch movies on a fuller screen.
The 5.5-inch HD+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is clear enough. It has a resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels and 293 pixel per inch density. There’s a 2.5D curved glass on top as well for protection.
Hardware and Software
Under the hood, the MediaTek MT6580 takes control with its 28nm process node. The chip comes with 4-cores of processor and clocks at 1.28GHz. While the ARM Mali-400 MP2 graphics processor comes with 2-cores.
For multiasking, it has just 1GB of RAM space available, this reaches a memory speed of 533MHz. However, this isn’t much of a problem, it runs on Android 8.1 Oreo Go Edition out of the box. In the storage department, it’s 16GB strong but you can expand up to 128GB.
Camera
There’s an 8MP autofocus camera at the rear with a dual-LED flash, the camera comes with the usual features as well. For selfies, there’s a 5MP selfie camera with LED flash.
Battery
Powering the Tecno POP 1S is a 3000mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery with no fast charging technology. Without the fast charging feature, charging the battery from 0% to 100% might take up to 2.5 hours.
