The Ulefone Armor 5 has been introduced by the company as the latest smartphone from the Armour rugged series which focuses on affordable rugged smartphones. The company also claims the Armor 5 is the World’s first rugged smartphone with a notched screen.
The device runs on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and has 4GB/64GB storage offerings. It sports dual rear cameras and houses a massive 5000 milliamp hour battery. Without further ado, lets meet the Ulefone Armor 5.
Design
The Armor 5 was designed with Polycarbonate, making this device more rugged. It boasts IP68 certifications offering dust and water resistant as well, the device also sports tri-proof design and rubber edges for protection against falls.
The features at the rear are simply plain and simple, the dual rear camera starts a vertical train at the top left corner with the fingerprint scanner coming underneath. It’s quite bulky by the sides, measuring 12.6mm in thickness and weighing 228g.
Display
When you turn over to the front, the first thing you’d notice is the notch at the top. This is the world’s first rugged smartphone with the notched screen. The notch houses the selfie camera, speaker grille and sensors.
The 5.8-inch HD+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is pretty sharp. It has a resolution of 720 x 1512 pixels and 286 pixel per inch density. The screen stretches up to 71.47% screen-to-body ratio with a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on top.
Hardware and Software
The Helio P23 chip from MediaTek takes centre stage here, the chip was designed with 16nm process node and comes with 8-cores of processor. This reaches a max speed of 2.0GHz, while the ARM Mali-G71 MP2 comes with 2-cores and clocks at 700MHz.
There’s 4GB of RAM space available for multitasking, this reaches a memory speed of 933MHz as well. In the storage department, you get 64GB storage space and can expand 256GB using the SIM 2 slot. The Armor 5 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.
Camera
The Armor 5 is equipped with dual 13MP + 5MP rear cameras and a dual-LED flash. The 13MP shooter has f/2.0 aperture and 5-element lens, while the 5MP underneath is the depth sensor. While the 8MP selfie camera has f/2.4 aperture with support for Face Unlock.
Battery
Powering the Ulefone Armor 5 is a 5000mAh non-removable Li-Po battery with fast charging and Qi wireless charging technology. With the fast charging feature, charging the battery from 0% to 100% shouldn’t take up to 2.5 hours.
