Verizon Currently Engaging in Alpha Testing of Its Games

An alpha test of Verizon Gaming, a game streaming service that would represent a major new initiative for the home and mobile internet giant, has begun. At the present time, Verizon Gaming has started running games on Nvidia Shield set-top box and will soon be documented, and make its way to Android smartphones.

Whichever way you use it, this service can be played using a paired Xbox One controller. In all of this, Verizon is not making Verizon Gaming known to the outside world. The company has not even acknowledged that this game exists!

Further, it is apparent that the company is also recruiting testers to take part. The number of games to be tested amounts to 135, and you can imagine how many workers would be testing the game. Once each tester finishes the work, he or she will be offered $150 Amazon gift card, they are also given a free Nvidia Shield Xbox One controller, and a login for the test.

The gaming app is pre-installed on the Shield device and Verizon will also be reportedly be distributing it to testers privately the through Google Play later in the month of January 2019. By the end of January, the trial run should come to an end.

On the internet, you could see screenshots of Verizon Gaming with titles that include Fortnite, red Dead Redemption 2, God of War, battlefield V and Destiny 2. It is possible that some of these are simply placeholders. For now, Verizon would rather worry about getting the fundamentals right before worrying about game selection. Verizon says for now that the trail is primarily focused on performance. Yet, testers have begun complaining about lag and a poor early experience.

Later, when Verizon has advanced the product, their library will consist of most or all of the top games people are familiar with. For now, the company would like to concentrate on working on the engine and its parts.

Lastly, there are evidences seen by the testers which shows that Verizon Gaming is still in its early stages of development.
