Xiaolajiao K1 launched with 2GB RAM – Review, Specs and Price

Xiaolajiao K1 was launched in China alongside the Xiaolajiao T8 Plus as budget smartphones for the Chinese market. The devices are also available for other markets on online shopping stores at a giveaway price.

The budget smartphone is very affordable and packs 16GB storage space, 2GB RAM, 8MP rear camera. There’s also a much cheaper variant with 1GB of RAM. Want to know more? Stay with me.

Design

Xiaolajiao K1

Just like its brother the Xiaolajiao K1 is simple looking as well. Sports an overall plastic body that’s comfortable to hold and flaunt. It doesn’t come with the rear fingerprint scanner as well. A similar vertical train of features is at the rear, starting with the rear camera, then the LED flash follows.

The company’s logo takes the place of the fingerprint scanner, which is so not cool. A rear loudspeaker sits at the bottom corner for quality music and bass as well. Moving further, it measures 9.3mm in thickness, bulky to the sides like most budget device. You can get it in Gold, Gray and Silver colors as well.

Display

Xiaolajiao K1

Sports huge top and bottom bezels, a bummer to people who are already addicted to the bezel-less hype. The bottom bezel houses the three navigation buttons as usual. While the top has the selfie camera, speaker grille and ambient light sensor. Overall, the screen stretches up to 67.50, which is nowhere near bezel-less.

Displaying vividly is the 5.5-inch HD IPS capacitive touchscreen that is pretty standard. Boasting of 1280 x 720 pixels in resolution and 267 pixel per inch density for clear visuals. Don’t expect magic with the screen though, it displays like a budget smartphone.

Hardware and Software

Working underneath is the MediaTek MT6737 chipset with a 64-bit CPU architecture and 4-cores of processor. The Quad-core processor reaches a clock speed of 1.25GHz with a 28nm process technology for a smooth ride. Administrating graphics is the ARM Mali-T720 MP1 graphics, has 2-cores of processor and reaches a speed of 600MHz.

The Xiaolajiao K1 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with FreeMeUI 5.1 skin on top. In terms of RAM, there are two versions, the standard version with 2GB RAM and a cheaper variant with 1GB RAM. You can store all your files in the 16GB internal storage space, which is upgradeable up to 128GB using a memory card.

Camera

The 8MP rear camera comes with a LED flash and captures 3K resolution images. With the Xiaolajiao K1 you can only capture photographs with 3264 x 2448 pixels in dimension. Record videos of 720 pixels at 30 frames per second and take cute selfies with the 5MP selfie camera.

Battery

Powering the Xiaolajiao K1 is a 2000mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery with no fast charging technology. Even without the fast charging feature, it shouldn’t take more than 2 hours to fully charge up the battery from 0% to 100%.

  1. The phone have such a very great features but the discouraging part about it is just the poor battery capacity if not it’s a 10/10 rating

  2. Well, it’s obvious this is an entry-level phone. The specs are quite good for the price. My number one problem is with the name: Xiaolajiao. The manufacturers could have thought of a better name that would be accepted worldwide, since they knew the phone was to be sold internationally. The other downside is the battery. 2000mAh is quite discouraging, especially in a country like Nigeria where electricity isn’t stable.
