The Xiaolajiao 7P has been launched by the Chinese smartphone manufacturer as the company’s first smartphone with the notched screen. This new device is an upgrade to the Xiaolajiao 6P we reviewed a couple of months ago.
Apart from the notch display, the 7P sports the trending vertically placed dual cameras, there’s also 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage space. The device also supports dual 4G VoLTE and Face ID. Lets find out more.
Design
The sleek looking smartphone has a Metal and Plastic mix body, the back has a plastic-like feel, while the frames are strictly metal. Surprisingly, the back reflects light beautifully with a fingerprint scanner in place as well.
At the top left corner, we can see one of the highlights at the rear. The vertically placed dual cameras is present, with the LED flash underneath. It measures 8.8mm in thickness and weighs 147g overall, the device was launched in Purple.
Display
This is the first smartphone from Xiaolajiao with a 19:9 notched screen. Although the notch is significantly thick and larger than most, but it’s a good first try. The bottom chin came out to play as well.
The 5.67-inch HD+ capacitive touchscreen is tall enough to deliver quality visuals. The screen boasts 1498 x 720 pixels in resolution and 293 pixel per inch density. It stretches up to 78% screen-to-body ratio with a 2.5D Curved Glass on top.
Hardware and Software
Under the hood, the MediaTek MT6750 is doing the job underneath. The chip was built on an older 28nm process node, so don’t expect magic in terms of power efficiency. Nonetheless, it has an octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz.
In the graphics department, the ARM Mali-T860 MP2 clocks at 520MHz and comes with 4-Cores. There’s a standard 4GB RAM for multitasking and 64GB storage space to accommodate all your files. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with Freeme OS 7.1.
Camera
The 7P is equipped with dual 13MP + 0.3MP dual shooters at the rear. The cameras come with a lot of features like scene recognition, phase detection, professional mode and a LED flash. While the 5MP selfie camera on the notch supports Face ID.
Battery
Powering the Xiaolajiao 7P is a 3050mAh non-removable Li-Po battery with fast charging technology. With the fast charging feature, charging the battery from 0% to 100% shouldn’t take up to 1.8 hours.
