Following the footsteps of Oppo and Vivo, Xiaomi would be working on a pop-up camera on the new Mi Mix 3. Some of the first renderings of the new model of the series already suggested that a camera would be very similar to the one we saw on Vivo Nex.
In the last hours, it emerged that the new device of Xiaomi will come to light by the month of September, even if it has not been confirmed that the Mi Mix 3 will actually be the successor of the Mi Mix 2S.
A teaser leaked on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo highlights the eccentric camera, which is pushed off the top edge with a small engine exactly as seen on the Vivo Nex, without however dwelling on any of its main features. It is not clear whether the teaser was formally designed by Xiaomi or a third source. However, the image suggests that the official launch will take place in September, as the text “2018.9” is shown.
As previously reported, the Mi Mix 3 will offer a higher “screen-to-body” ratio compared to Mi Mix, Mi Mix 2 and Mi Mix 2S. Xiaomi would also have filed a patent in 2015 specifically for the pop-up camera, and it is likely that this module also includes an LED flash.
The first renderings of the smartphone also hinted at the absence of a fingerprint sensor. This suggests that, just like the Vivo and Oppo models, the Xiaomi model will come with a phone unlock feature via face recognition and a fingerprint sensor integrated into the display.
A recent list appeared on TENAA revealed that the new Mi Mix model will be equipped with a 6.9-inch full-HD display (1080 × 2160 pixels) with an 18 – 9 aspect ratio. It is likely to be equipped with a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core, although some early entries refer to the new Snapdragon 710. In addition, the laptop should have up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of storage space, expandable via the microSD card. The phone will also have a dual camera on the back, with a 12-megapixel primary sensor. Finally, great emphasis on the battery – the Mi Mix 3 will have a 5400 mAh.
