DESIGN AND DISPLAY
Speaking about design and build quality, the Redmi 5 Plus can be considered o be a twin of the Xiaomi Redmi 5. The two devices are literally from the same family and likewise share the same appearance and identity. However, there exist a differentiating factor. The Redmi 5 Plus is bigger; in size, thickness and even weighs more.
On the front’s real estate is a large screen embedded under a 2.5D curved scratch resistant glass. The screen is sized 5.99 inches (approximately 6.0 inches) and it is a Full HD display with a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels.
PROCESSOR, OS AND STORAGE
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus uses the mid-range Snapdragon 625 SoC manufactured by Qualcomm to run all the device’s operations and processes. The SoC comes with eight ARM Cortex-A53 core which all run at a clock speed of 2.0GHz.
Accompanying the CPU in the SoC is the Adreno 506 GPU tasked with the function of overseeing gaming on the Redmi 5 Plus and ensuring their smooth running.
Xiaomi used its native interface, the MIUI version 9 on the Redmi 5 Plus. The MIUI is however based on the Android Nougat v7.1.1 Operating system.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus comes in two different variants. The 2 types are classified based on the amount of RAM they carry and size of built-in storage capacity. The first Redmi 5 Plus comes with a 3GB Ram and 32GB ROM while the other variant comes out-of-the-box with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. The second SIM slot of both versions can be used as a micro SD card slot to expand the storage up to 128GB.
CAMERA AND BATTERY
Like majority of other smartphones, the Redmi 5 Plus possesses a single lens on the rear for phone photography. On the front, there is also a single lens put in place for selfie and video chats duties. The primary camera has a quality of 12 megapixels and enjoys the support of two (dual) LED flash while the secondary camera is of 5 megapixels quality and has front flash for subject brightening during selfie capture.
The power house of the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is the built-in non-removable 4,000 mAh battery. The device supports fast charge which allows the battery charge from 0 to a 100% in only 1.6 hours (96 minutes)
