Oppo A3 VS Oppo F7 – Oppo’s mid-range siblings

Oppo A3 VS Oppo F7 – Oppo’s mid-range siblings. Oppo has been consistent this 2018 with a lot of mid-range smartphones release. They have the Oppo F7, R15, A3 and the Realme 1. The Oppo A3 is a budget-friendly smartphone that looks like the Oppo F7 and R15. There’s a smartphone called Oppo A1, so am guessing the Oppo A3 is its successor.

But for this article we will be comparing the Oppo A3 with one of Oppo best budget-friendly smartphone; the Oppo F7. Both the Oppo A3 and Oppo F7 are below the $400 mark, which is not a bad price range if you ask me. So let’s see which of these two smartphones offers us more for less.

Oppo A3 VS Oppo F7 – The Design

Both the Oppo A3 and F7 comes in a front glass with an aluminum unibody. At the front, they both look exactly the same with a notch at the top screen. The back of the Oppo F7 is plain while on the back of the Oppo A3 is a crystal-like design. The rear camera and LED flash is placed at the top left corner of both smartphone. The Oppo F7 features a fingerprint sensor for security. While the Oppo A3 comes with no fingerprint sensor or Face ID. I feel it’s a really bad move from Oppo and wonder why they made such move.

It’s just as if the Oppo A3 and F7 are made for each other. They both measure the same dimensions of 156 x 75.3 x 7.8 mm. While the Oppo F7 weighs 158 grams and the Oppo A3 weighs 159 grams. The Oppo A3 is available in Knight Black, Soybean Meal, Stardust Silver and Garnet Red body colors. While the Oppo F7 is available in Solar Red, Diamond Black, and Moonlight Silver body colors. The Moonlight Silver body color of the Oppo F7 is exclusive to its 64GB internal storage model only.

Oppo A3 VS Oppo F7 – The Display

After having a similar design, the Oppo A3 and Oppo F7 are back at it again with similar display specifications. They both feature an LTPS IPS LCD touchscreen, which measures 6.23 inch on the Oppo A3. And 6.2 inch on the Oppo F7. Their screen stretches up to an 82.5% screen-to-body ratio. Their display features a 19:9 aspect ratio, 1080 x 2280 pixels resolution and 405 PPI density. The Corning Gorilla Glass 5 is in charge of protecting the display of the Oppo F7.

Oppo A3 VS Oppo F7 – The Camera

Moving on from the display, the camera category isn’t left behind in them being brothers. The rear camera of both the Oppo F7 and Oppo A3 features a 16MP sensor, f/1.8 aperture, phase detection autofocus and LED flash. Could this be that Oppo is running out of ideas, which is why they’re releasing smartphones with almost the same specs? Well, the Oppo F7 being a selfie-focused smartphone made the difference here. The Oppo F7’s front camera features a 25MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture. While the front camera of the Oppo A3 features an 8MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture.

Oppo A3 VS Oppo F7 – Hardware and Software

Am beginning to get tired of the Oppo A3 and Oppo F7 featuring the same specs in almost all the categories LOL. Powering both the Oppo F7 and A3 is Mediatek Helio P60 chipset with Mali-G72 MP3 graphics processing unit. The MediaTek Helio P60 is one of the best mid-range chipsets in the market right now. So multitasking on both phones should be fast and swift.

The Oppo A3 comes in a standard 4GB memory with a generous 128GB internal storage. While on the Oppo F7, you get to choose between the 4GB memory with 64GB storage or 6GB memory with 128GB storage. The Oppo A3 and Oppo F7 both run on ColorOS 5.0 skin, which is overlaid on top of Android 8.1 Oreo.

Oppo A3 VS Oppo F7 – The Battery

Powering the Oppo A3 and Oppo F7 is a non-removable Li-lon 3400 mAh battery. To our surprise, they don’t support fast battery charging. And It’s becoming a trend for Oppo, most of their budget smartphones hardly support fast battery charging. Even the newer Oppo Realme 1 doesn’t either.

Oppo A3 VS Oppo F7 – The Price

The Oppo A3 is available at about $384 (N134,400). While the Oppo F7 is cheaper for around $314 (N109,900). With our detailed comparison, you’ll agree with me that the Oppo A3 smartphone should totally be ignored. The Oppo F7 features a fingerprint sensor and a quality selfie camera at a cheaper price. Virtually everything the Oppo A3 features can be found also on the Oppo F7.
