Design
The Aspire VX 15 is designed to look like an octagon with the edges chamfered. This futuristic design is complemented by a single large hinge that makes the opening with one hand quite easy. There are two speaker grills positioned at opposite ends of the underside bottom.
Also, the dimensions of this device are 389 x 265.5 x 28.9 mm and weigh a not-so-hefty 2.5 kg. With the dual grills at the backside of the laptop, it indicates that there are two fans for cooling this machine.
Display
You have a Full HD 15.6-inch display that translates to an aspect ratio of 16:9. However, it is interesting to note that the display is an IPS LCD, for lower power consumption.
The 1080p display means that the pixel density count stands at about 141ppi, which is not bad for a laptop but is noticeable to people with really good eyesight.
Keyboard and Touchpad
Moving on, the keyboard comes with red backlighting for night-time typing, and the touchpad is snappy. There seems to be a slight issue however with the keyboard, the number panel is not sufficiently spaced from the QWERTY part.
The touchpad is outlined in red color and hides the clickable buttons underneath – which is the norm for modern computers.
Performance
Next, we look at the internals of the Acer Aspire VX 15 and how they help the laptop perform. For processing, the VX 15 uses Intel’s Core i7-7700HQ CPU (which most gaming laptops use), which is clocked at 2.8GHz. There is 16GB of RAM – expandable to 32GB – while internal storage comes in two parts – a main 128GB SSD with a secondary 1TB HDD.
For graphics processing, the mid-range Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti GPU (with 4GB of dedicated VRAM) gets the job done. The Aspire VX 15 runs Windows 10 OS out-of-the-box meaning you get access to all of Microsoft’s major software applications.
Battery Life
Furthermore, the Acer Aspire VX 15 uses a 3-cell 4605 mAh Li-ion battery that ensures a battery life of around 6 hours. While this is unfortunately below the industry average of 8 hours [for a gaming device, I mean], it is nonetheless sufficient for the day’s work.
Connectivity Options
Moving on, regarding connectivity, there are two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 and one USB type-C ports; an HDMI port, a microSD card slot, and an Ethernet port are also included. In addition, there’s also WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.
Pricing
