Android 9 Pie requires root to record voice calls

The Android 9 Pie was finally released and gained good news as the control by gestures and features that use artificial intelligence to improve their experience. Despite this, not everything is flowers – the operating system has also lost some important functions.

One is the one that allows you to record audio from calls. The Android 9 Pie ended the breach that was used in previous versions. This will require you to root the machine to save a file of the call.

Google seems to want to prevent the system from contributing to the violation of laws when recording a conversation without the consent of those involved. It is worth remembering that in some countries, it is necessary to have the permission of all the people present on the call before making the recording.

The discussion around this topic, incidentally, is not something new within Google. The company withdrew the official API for recording calls still on Android 6 Marshmallow. Since then, developers have used an alternate way to accomplish this task.

Now, Google has also closed the gap, making application enforcement more difficult. In addition to root, there’s not much you can do to record a call with Android 9 Pie. Alternatives are to wait for a new change from Google or wait for developers to find another way to make recordings on the system.
