Apple’s Next Moves – New Snoopy, Peanuts Cartoon Series; Expansion Plans

Apple is planning to produce a new animated series which will feature Snoopy and the Peanuts gang. The series was created by late American cartoonist Charles Schulz for a video platform.

The new information has been confirmed by latest press reports.

The agreement, it is said, was reached with Apple in what journalists termed a highly competitive environment which means it was done at the expense of other candidates. The Canadian group DHX Media, which holds 80% of the rights of Snoopy and Peanuts were also involved in the selection.

Apart from buying this stake, the DHX also bought rights to Peanuts gang member Peppermint Patty for $345 million USD in 2024.

The commitment now, however, is for DHX to work on new animated seris, specials and short programs around the said Peanuts gang, a bunch of kids with the Snoopy

DHX has also promised that it will create educational programs including the Peanuts gang, exclusively for Apple around space and the invasion of space.

Apple’s agreement and partnership with DHX Media is another example of the Apple brand’s ambition to own its very on-demand service offering exclusive content.

From time to time, Apple has allowed third party companies to place content on iTunes platforms. These contents have been accessible on a one on one basis not on subscription basis.

The written and illustrated Peanuts cartoon strip work was started in 1950 and the final strip was published in newspapers one day after Schulz death in February 2000.

Also coming in, Apple is also planning to build a new campus in North Austin. This is one of Apple’s top project right now that will include an investment of $1 billion USD in expansion of its operations in that area.

There will be expansion plans that will see new sites in Seattle, San Diego and Culver City. However, these are expected to expand in cities across the US including Pittsburgh, New York and Boulder, Colorado over the next three years. Most significantly, these new projects have the potentials to influence additional expansion elsewhere in the US over the years.
