The smartphone is designed as a hybrid device in that it gives the users some of the large-screen benefits of a table wiout the cost of buying both tablet and phone.

Apart from sharing the same brand name with the Zenfone 3, the Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra is different entirely in design and specification from the other two – Zenfone 3 and Zenfone 3 Deluxe.

Body & Display

As stated earlier, the Zenfone 3 Ultra comes in a large 6.8-inch display which has a 1080p full-HD resolution. The mobile gadget also comes with a display density of around 324 pixels per inch which is designed to give the over 6-incher a sharp view of contents on the screen.

The screen display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 cover.

According to Asus, the ZenFone 3 Ultra is the world’s first smartphone with a dedicated display processor like those found in the latest 4K UHD TVs. The feature is called the ASUS Tru2Life+ technology, which aid in pixel optimization in order to deliver incredible contrast and sharpness for beautiful, true-to-life images. Tru2Life+ is said to also have motion-estimation and motion-compensation (MEMC) algorithms for smooth, blur-free video that doesn’t judder. And, with a 95% NTSC color gamut and 400nits brightness, you’ll view with real-world vibrancy.

Also, the Zenfone 3 Ultra has a fingerprint scanner on the front where the Home button is. This might just be a wise design decision because if it had been placed on the back panel it would have been difficult to reach due to the size of the Android phone.

System Performance & Operating System

It might have seemed impossible that something as beautiful as ZenFone 3 Ultra could also deliver exceptional performance — but Asus  made sure the phone does. Its elegant beauty veils monstrous power, including a 64-bit, 1.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor, and desktop-grade Adreno 510 GPU.

The Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra will run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system but the device will sport the amazing Zen UI.

The device comes with a 4GB RAM and features two models with varied internal memory setup. While one comes with 64GB internal memory, the other variant comes with 128GB of internal memory storage. Both variants can be expanded with a microSD though.

Camera Performance

The Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra comes with a whopping 23MP rear shooter with Sony IMX318 processor as well as four-axis OIS. The front-facing (selfie) camera of the Zenfone 3 Deluxe sports an 8MP shooter.

The design of the Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra camera setup is different also, in that the rear camera mount is square instead of round and it is located on the left side instead of the centre of the phone.

Battery, Connectivity & Colour

The Zenfone 3 Ultra comes sporting a big capacity 4,600mAh Li-Ion battery. Its Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology can have it charged from flat to 60% in just 45 minutes. The phone can even charge attached devices as a power bank with a high current of up to 1.5A that makes charging up to three times faster.

The smartphone also comes with 300Mbps 4G LTE, Bluetooth v4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector for convenient charging, 3.5mm audio jack, and GPS/ A-GPS.

The Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra will be available in three color specs; Grey, Silver and Pink.

Price of the Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra

The ZenFone 3 Ultra will be available in mid-June in Taiwan, Asia Pacific, the EU and China. There’s no word however on when it would be available in Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana. However when it does start shipping, the monster phone will cost $479 (converting to around N98,000 – N 110,000) for the 4GB RAM, 64GB on-board storage model. The price will be slightly higher for models with more storage.
