BLU S1 4G smartphone Specifications Review, Price and Where to buy

BLU (BOLD LIKE US) is an American based smartphone manufacturing company that has been in the business as far back as 2009. That’s more than 8 years of producing the different smartphones. We have seen the BLU R1 Plus with amazingly huge and long-lasting 4,000 mAh battery, and also the BLU Vivo 5R with 4G and large 5.5 inch display. The two devices were decent and had good specs.

Therefore, it can be safely assumed that the features of the BLU S1 which will be examined below will not disappoint. Let’s find out.

The BLU S1 is perfectly sized device; not too big, neither is it to slim. The device has a dimension of 147.3 x 72.8 x 8.4 mm and weighs only 137 grams, lighter than the Infinix Hot S (140 grams). The fingerprint sensor (doubles as the home button) is at the front, just right below the display and the other hard keys (volume and power keys) are all located at the right hand side of the device.

The BLU S1 comes with a 5.2 inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and an average pixel density of 282 ppi.

I guess smartphone manufacturing companies are now taking special interest in devices with 5.2 inches. The recently released Oppo A71, Infinix Hot S2 Pro and Infinix Hot S all have 5.2 inches display. This display size is really perfect for those who find 5.5 inch display too big to handle and 5.0 inch too small.

The BLU S1 comes with a Mediatek MT6750 Octa-core processor with 1.5 GHz clock speed. It runs on the Android v7.0 Nougat operating system and there is no info as to whether the BLU S1 will get an Android 8.0 Oreo update or not.

Moving to the storage department, there’s 2 GB of RAM aboard for efficient and flawless multitasking. You also get 16 GB of built-in memory to store multimedia and other documents. There’s a micro SD card slot for storage expansion to up to 64 GB.

Speaking of image capture, the BLU S1 will definitely not disappoint. The cameras are decent enough. On the rear, a 13 megapixels lens accompanied by a LED flash should do magic to your pictures. The camera comes with features like Autofocus, Continuous shooting, Digital zoom, Geotagging, Panorama, HDR, Touch focus, Face detection, White balance, Scene mode and more.

Up front, a 5 megapixels camera is embedded for selfie purposes.

Behind the back cover is 2,800 mAh Lithium Ion battery. The battery capacity is quite small given how intense mobile usage have gotten. Also, the BLU S1 lacks the Quick charge feature but since the battery capacity isn’t all that large, it should not take much time to get a full charge. Mind you, the battery is not removable.

The BLU S1 is one of the many budget devices out there. Besides, this one is particularly affordable; costs only $90. That’s about NGN 31,500.
