Bluboo S1 Specifications, Review and Price

BLUBOO S1 REVIEW

We speculated some of the specs the Bluboo S1 will arrive in, and also, we got information about how much the device is likely to cost and reported it here that it will retail for about $150. The Bluboo S1 was also reported to come with the latest screen protection in the form of Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

However, we bring you the full review of the great device from Bluboo. Let’s begin.

DESIGN

Bluboo S1 Review – Sleek design

At first glance of the Bluboo S1 smartphone, you can’t help but notice the absence of bezel at the top, left and right side of the device. The screen was practically incorporated onto the whole frontal space of the device. The available bottom bezel only exists because there needs to be space for the secondary selfie camera and the home/fingerprint button.

Bluboo S1 Review

Going by the Bluboo S1 74.3 mm x 148.6 x 7.9 mm and its 175grams weight, it is safe to say that the Bluboo S1 is slim and lightweight.

DISPLAY

One of the selling point of the Bluboo S1 is the screen. The Bluboo S1 comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS OGS display. The lightness and thinness of the Bluboo S1 device can also be attributed to the OGS display used on the device. OGS (One Glass Solution) is a touchscreen technology which reduces the thickness of a display by removing one of the layers of glass from the traditional capacitive touchscreen stack and replacing it with an insulating material.

The screen has an impressive display resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and pixel density of 401ppi.

PROCESSOR, OS & STORAGE

Powering all processes and actions on the Bluboo S1 is a MediaTek MTK6757 / Helio P20 octa-core processor. The processor is a good processor and has a rather fast speed of 2.5GHz. This speed qualifies the Bluboo S1 to be on our Top 10 list of smartphones with fast 2.4GHz processor and above.

The Bluboo S1 runs on the latest Android Nougat OS, comes in 4GB and 6GB RAM variants and 64GB/128GB of internal storage space respectively. That’s more than enough RAM your applications need and more space for users to keep files and other multimedia. The second Nano SIM card slot can be substituted as a SIM card slot for storage expansion.

CAMERA

Bluboo S1 Review – Dual rear camera set-up

There’s a dual camera set-up at the top right corner of the Bluboo S1 rear. The dual camera are of 16 megapixels and 3 megapixels quality and supported by a LED flash.

The front camera on the other hand is a single 5 megapixels sensor. It is located at the front below the display screen and quite sadly, it enjoys no LED flash support.

BATTERY

The battery pack used on the Bluboo S1 is a non-removable 3,500mAh Lithium-Polymer battery. The battery has a normal usage time of 2-3 days, heavy usage duration of 10-12 hours. Interestingly, the battery charges quite fast due the presence of the quick charge feature.

PRICING & AVAILABILITY

The Bluboo S1 smartphone is a complete package. You can own a unit of this device for a price between $200 – $220.

  1. I have finally received mine and at first glance have noticed a few flaws…
The phone is advertised as tri bezel-less screen but there is a clear bezel (around 2mm) around the three edges. There is also an additional 1mm black frame around the screen so it’s actually not a full screen display.
The stock launcher is very basic so I wanted to install a better one but some aren’t compatible with the phone such as Zen Ui launcher.
Live wallpapers do not work with the S1 as the phone cannot load them.
I currently use a Sony Xperia Z3compact and although it has half the specs, it feels more responsive.
It’s not a bad phone, it’s just not quite the phone that’s being advertised
