BQ Mobile BQ-5009L Trend is a budget smartphone from BQ Mobile that was released last month. The trendy smartphone is portable and affordable focusing on those on a very tight budget.

Design
Sports a shining Plastic overall body, with little lines at the back for a more comfortable and firm grip. The Trend smartphone is very portable and won’t easily slip off while holding it. The rear camera at the top middle has a “HD pixels” engraving underneath, totally unnecessary.
There’s a LED right beside the camera, while the BQ Mobile logo took the place of a fingerprint scanner. The Trend engraving is also at the bottom alongside the rear loudspeaker. Turning over to the sides, it measures 9.4mm slim and weighs 160g. In terms of coloring, it’s available in Dark Blue, Silver, Gold and Gray colors.
Display
It has bezels just like most budget smartphones, but in 2024 it’s kinda disappointing. Although the bottom bezel isn’t vacant here, it houses three navigation buttons, to navigate easily with the device. At the top, we can see the selfie camera, front flash, speaker grille and light sensor.
The screen is a sizable 5-inch HD IPS capacitive touchscreen with 1280 x 720 pixels in resolution. Displays like a budget smartphone, and has up to 294 pixel per inch density because of its compact screen. The screen stretches up to 66.3% screen to body ratio and is scratch resistant as well.
Hardware and Software
The MediaTek MT6737 chip is under the hood here, alongside a 64-bit CPU architecture and Quad-core processor. The 4-cores processor reaches a maximum speed of 1.3GHz and has a 28nm process technology for a fast performance. Administrating graphics here is the ARM Mali-T720 MP1, clocking at 550MHz.
Internally, it has just 1GB of RAM space and a memory speed of 640 MHz for light multitasking. In addition, there’s an 8GB storage space to store everything from files to apps. When you are out of space, simply upgrade up to 32GB using a memory card. The BQ-5009L Trend runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with modified user interface.
Camera
At the back, there’s a 5MP shooter with f/2.2 aperture lens and “HD Pixels”, whatever that means. Nonetheless, it comes with a LED flash and captures just 2K resolution images only. With the BQ Mobile BQ-5009L Trend, you can capture photographs with 2582 x 1936 pixels in dimension. Take selfies with the 5MP selfie camera, the camera comes with a LED flash as well, for late night video calling and selfies.
Battery
Powering the BQ Mobile BQ-5009L Trend is a 2400mAh non-removable Li-Po battery with no fast charging technology. Even without the fast charging feature, it shouldn’t take more than 2 hours to fully charge up the battery from 0% to 100%.
