Doogee X50 launched with Android 8.1 Oreo – Review, Specs and Price

Doogee isn’t done yet with the iPhone X clones, the Doogee X50 is another affordable iPhone X look like. Launched yesterday, X50 is a budget smartphone with a good-looking body for those on a budget.

The company sure does love the vertically placed dual rear camera with the LED in between. Most of their smartphones these days comes with the iPhone X-like camera. The X50 however is the cheapest of them all. Want to know more? Stay with me.

Design

Doogee X50

Sports a Plastic overall body and comes in so many beautiful colors as well, the X50 is portable and sleek. It’s very comfortable to hold and operate as well. The iPhone X-like camera at the top left corner is the highlight here, giving the phone a certain kind of class.

In between the cameras lies the LED flash, which is always ready to do its job. Turning over to the sides, the volume keys and power button are present. It measures 9mm slim, making the device a little bulky to the sides. Furthermore, it weighs 142g which is very light and easy to use. The smartphone is available in Gold, Black, Gray, Blue and Red colors.

Display

Bezels are literally all over the screen here, the narrow bezels are at their minimum though. Three navigation buttons are present at the bottom bezel for easy navigation. While at the top, the usual features like a selfie camera, ambient light sensor and speaker grille are present as well.

Although it dishes out an 18:9 aspect ratio, the 5-inch FWVGA+ IPS capacitive touchscreen is pretty disappointing. Boasting of 960 x 480 pixels and 215 pixel per inch density for standard display. The screen got up to 69.1% screen to body ratio, which almost clocks the 70% mark of being bezel-less.

Hardware and Software

Managing everything under the hood is the MediaTek MT6580M chip, a 32-bit CPU architecture and 4-cores of processor. The quad-core processor has a limit though, reaching just 1.3GHz clock speed with 28nm process technology. In the graphics department, the ARM Mali-400 MP2 is in charge and clocks at 416MHz.

There’s only 1GB of RAM space available here alongside a memory speed of 533MHz. In terms of storage, there’s 8GB of storage space to accommodate all files, which you can upgrade further up to 128GB. The X50 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo (Go) operating system with modified user interface.

Camera

At the back, there’s a 5MP + 0.3MP rear shooter, which is nothing to write home about. Both camera captures photographs with just 2582 x 1936 pixels in dimension (2K resolution images). The camera comes with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash for night photography. At the front, there’s a 5MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture for cute selfies. Record standard 720 pixels video at 30 frames per second.

Battery

Powering the Doogee X50 is a 2000mAh removable Li-Ion battery with no fast charging technology. Even without the fast charging feature, it shouldn’t take more than 2 hours to fully charge up the battery from 0% to 100%.
