Prior to September 2016, curved edge displays, and indeed dual-curved displays on smartphones were sort of an exclusive to the Samsung Galaxy S line. When I first heard of this smartphone, I was quite sceptical because it was produced by a China-based OEM. However, the more I read about it, the more I’m convinced that it’s a good buy. The Elephone S7 packs is an embodiment of beauty and brawn; some have even referred to it as the most beautiful smartphone under $150.
Another thing that endears me to the Elephone S7 is that it comes in a wide range of memory, storage and colour variants, giving buyers the complete power of choice. There’s even an Elephone S7 Mini for those who don’t like the big 5.5-inch display of the standard variant; the S7 Mini comes with a 5.2-inch display.
Elephone S7 – General Specifications
Display & Design
The Elephone S7 4G Phablet has a 5.5-inch dual curved-edge bezel-less display with a Full HD (1920 * 1080) pixel resolution. It comes with a physical home button into which a fingerprint scanner has been embedded for secure unlocking of the smartphone.
The design of the Elephone S7 is similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge; in some quarters they call it a direct copy. The side bezels are completely absent, the edges are rounded and the back is slightly curved. The Elephone S7 has all the aesthetics of a modern high-end smartphone, which it actually is.

As I said earlier, the Elephone S7 comes in a wide range of storage and memory variants, ranging from 2GB RAM + 16GB ROM to 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM to 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM. These memory variants depend on the colour version you get (which have different price tags), so I’m going to discuss them under the colour variants & price subheading.
Under the hood, the Elephone S7 is powered by a MediaTek Helio X20 MT6797 processor with ten processing cores (Deca-core) and a clock speed of 2.0GHz. The processor is paired with a modern Mali T880 GPU to ensure that graphics operations are carried out smoothly. The phone comes with a microSD slot which allows you to expand the internal storage capacity up to 128GB with an external SD card.
Battery & Connectivity
The Elephone S7 packs a built-in 3000mAh Lithium Polymer battery which powers its operations. It comes with a Dual Nano-SIM slot and supports 4G LTE network bands. The good news is that the smartphone is unlocked for global use, and supports a wide range of network frequency bands around the world.
The smartphone possesses a 3.5mm audio jack and micro USB Type-C port which gives it USB OTG support. It also comes with other wireless connectivity options like WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and Hotknot.
Camera
The Elephone S7 sports a 13MP camera with Autofocus and LED flash at the rear, and a 5MP solitary camera unit at the front. The front camera comes with an Iris recognition technology which gives fuel to the rumours that it’s a Galaxy Note 7 clone. Since there is no dedicated iris scanner, however, the technology is not expected to work very well on the Elephone S7.
Software
The Elephone S7 4G Phablet runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow right out of the box, with some software modifications on top to give you more features and tweaks to play with. It includes support for a wide range of languages and allows you to use Smart gestures and Wake Gestures.
The Elephone S7 comes with a lot of features like Ambient light sensor, Compass, Gravity sensor and Proximity sensor. It weighs just 148 grammes and is only 7.6mm thick, despite the fact that it packs a large battery capacity.
