Elephone U2 4G Medium Orchid – Pop-Up Camera, Android 9 Pie

For several months, there have been hints and leaks about the Elephone U2, and now we have full information as the smartphone was released in the month of September 2018. You can now order it from Gearbest with a discount.

This is a 4G phablet in the sense that it has a wider screen size, making it lovely for playing video games. There’s another variant of a smaller proportion of 5.5 inches. That is not the one we are reviewing here.

Special Features of Elephone U2

Special attributes of the newly released Elephone U2 lies in its CPU, RAM + ROM, its operating system, the display, and battery features. We will outline these areas and more below.

Design and Display

This device has been blessed with a wide 6.26 inches screen. That is complemented with 2280 x 1080 HD+ resolution. There’s a 5 point multi-touch capabilities in the device.

It has rounded edges, and the corners of the device give the impression of an advanced and expensive smartphone. The smartphone display appearance gives off the hint that it is very graceful.

Right at the top, there’s dual pop-up camera sensors. To the rear of the device, there’s a triple camera setup, a LED flash situated below the primary camera in the middle and a fingerprint scanner.

Camera Design Features

As mentioned before, Elephone U2 portrays pop-up camera Vivo NEX-style, but it has two actual sensors for snapping pictures with bokeh effect. There is a 16 MP + 5 MP camera situated to the front of the device for selfie lovers. To the rear, there are triple camera.

Talk about the triple camera for Elephone U2 4G looks impressive. But beware, that company has not been known to be reliable when it comes better camera performance. Elephone still doesn’t possess camera prowess, and image quality may be poor despite the numbers of cameras the phablet stacks on.

Hardware, Software and Storage Space

One thing we are sure of is that the Elephone U2 4G phablet will run on Android 9 Pie out of the box. As per other details, such as the CPU, GPS, or Chipset, these are not very clear yet.

It appears that fans may expect that the smartphone will run on the powerful and highly energy efficient MediaTek Helio P70. There may also be the MaliG72-MP4 GPU that will allow the CPU to cope with striking graphics of the most resource-intensive games easily.

Elephone U2 2

For storage, the information gleaned from Gearbest suggests that Elephone U2 4G may arrive with 16GB RAM and up to 128GB internal storage because the manufacturer promises that users will have no reasons whatsoever to delete anything. We wait to see how this information measures up later when the device gets into the hands of end-users.

If one could add the power of a microSD card, we could be talking about storage capacities up to 256GB here.

Network and Connectivity

We expect that Elephone U2 4G Medium Orchid will have the same wonderful network properties that other Android smartphones have nowadays. Though there is the 4G in its name, it doesn’t mean that the device will not be able to make use of 2G, 3G, and 4G networks.

You can insert dual Nano or micro SIMs into the device, and they will work just fine. Other attributes we expect are Wi-Fi Direct, mobile hotspot, NFC, GPS, A-GPS, Glonass, and other popular ones.

Battery Life

No doubt this is 4000 mAh non-removable as revealed by Elephone. This is enough for a device of this nature. In normal mode, this battery will work for the user three days without charging. Put it to strenuous work, and it will do seven to eight hours. Stand-by time is five to six days. Fast charging is also available.

Price and Availability

You can order Elephone U2 4G Medium Orchid now on Gearbest in what seems to pre-order. However, it appears that you still won’t find it in most smartphone stores. The smartphone will be available for sale in the month of October 2018.

Expect a full review as soon as we get more information from the manufacturer.
