Geecoo G2 with 3000mAh Battery – Review, Full Specs and Price

Geecoo G2 – Review

Geecoo G2 is a very affordable low range smartphone with 3000mAh of battery. It retails for just $98, runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system and was released last month. For those on a tight budget, this might be your device of choice when you go through the specs. What will you be getting for $98? Lets find out.

Design

Geecoo G2

Doesn’t look cheap at first glance, made solely from Aluminium Alloy with a smooth feel. Sporting curved and round edges, making it comfortable to hold and flaunt. The rear camera starts a vertical train at the top middle with the LED flash underneath.

The fingerprint scanner follows suit in that direction for fast access to the phone and apps. Its a bit fat by the sides though, measuring 9.2 mm slim but however its still comfortable to hold. Its also available in beautiful colors like Black, Gold and Rose-Gold.

Display

Its a budget smartphone so there are still lots of bezels at top and bottom corner. With extremely narrow bezels, and navigation buttons sitting at the bottom bezel. While the top bezel houses the selfie camera, sensors and front LED flash.

The 5.5-inch AMOLED On-Cell capacitive touchscreen is not your typical low range screen. Boasts of 1280 x 640 pixels in resolution and 260 pixel per inch density for stunning contrast and clarity. Furthermore, Geecoo got to a 71.5% screen to body ratio with the G3, while being protected by a 2.5D Curved Screen.

Hardware and Software

The system on chip is a 32-bit Spreadtrum SC983 with Quad-Core processor reaching a speed of 1.3GHz. It has 1GB RAM for multitasking, 64-bit CPU architecture and 28nm process technology. The graphics processor is an ARM Mali-400 MP2 processing unit with clock speed of 512MHz. Light games should run very smoothly but heavy games may lag from time to time with the G2.

8GB of internal storage space is available to store all your files, games and apps. If that isn’t enough, you can always upgrade up to 32GB using a memory card. The G3 runs smoothly on Android 7.0 Nougat with modified user interface.

Camera

Leading the vertical train at the back is an 8MP with f/2.2 Aperture shooter that captures 3K resolution images. The camera takes beautiful photographs with 3264 x 2448 Pixels in dimension. It comes with a dual-LED flash to help take stunning portraits in low light environment. Features on the camera includes exposure compensation, face detection, geotagging, HDR, ISO settings, manual focus and Optical Stabilization (OIS). Others are optical zoom, panorama, scene mode, self-timer, touch focus, white balance settings, CMOS Sensor and the rest. The 5MP selfie shooter with LED Flash has an 88 Degree Wide Angle Lens. The feature allows you to capture group selfies with lots of people in the photo.

Battery

Geecoo G2 is powered by a 3000mAh Non-removable Li-Po battery, with no fast battery charging feature. The battery on the G2 should boost up from 0% to 100% in 2.5 hours.
