The blog statement says that for Twitter to truly serve the public conversation, it must be more immersed in the rich and vibrant communities that drive the conversation that takes place every day across the African continent.

In 2019, Jack Dorsey visited Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, and Ethiopia. He was probably looking for space for a new shop. It is not surprising that Twitter picked Ghana first. The blog post says that Ghana is a champion for democracy, a supporter of free speech, online freedom, and the Open Internet, of which Twitter is also an advocate.

Ghana also hosts the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). That indicates the country’s significance in establishing Twitter’s presence across Africa.

At the present time, Twitter has successful partnerships with several impactful African organizations in Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, and probably elsewhere. With the company on the continent, Africans can look for content and experiences more tailored to the people of Africa.
