Google Fit gets updated and brings new features

The Mountain View company has concentrated a large part of its resources on updating and improving its various applications. However, some did not deserve so much attention so far, and Google Fit was one of them.

Although it has received an improvement of its look during the last summer since the application saw very little news arrive. Therefore, the company finally decided to listen to the users, and bring some quite wanted news.

One of the most requested features of the exercise and health application users was the implementation of widgets. Since the arrival of Google Fit in 2014, this is a feature that should have been present.

Google Fit now gives news directly from your home screen

However, it took more than 4 years for the Mountain View company to finally give away its users with widget support. With the new update, you’re finally going to put an official Google Fit widget on your smartphone’s home screen.

You will have two different widgets at your disposal. In the first place, you will have one with quite large dimensions that appear in the form of a hexagon. In this widget, you will be presented the minutes of physical exercise performed and the points accumulated.

Secondly, you have a capsule-shaped widget that will keep you informed in real time about the number of steps, calories burned and distance traveled throughout the day.

In addition to the implementation of the widgets, you will also find a small change in the main screen of the application. Now, once you open the app you will be presented with the list of the most recent training sessions. Clearly in an attempt to continue to motivate users to opt for an active lifestyle.

Finally, for users who also use Google Fit on their WearOS smartphone, they will now have a small exercise in assisted breathing. This activity will help you calm down in times of increased stress.

While it has not received any major updates, we are pleased to see that Google has not forgotten about its ‘exercise and health’ application.
