It is no longer news that search engine giant, Google recently unveiled two flagship devices for the year 2017. The two devices are the Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL. This time, we shall be taking a look at the second flagship and what it has to offer under the Google Pixel 2 XL Review header.
Google Pixel 2 XL Review
DESIGN AND DISPLAY
Design-wise, nothing much was changed on this device when compared to the Pixel 2. The Google Pixel 2 XL also sports dual speakers on the front; one at the top and the other at the bottom of the display. Also, you would notice that the four corners of the Google Pixel 2 XL’s screen are curved unlike the Pixel 2 screen which had right angles (90°).
Another noticeable change is on the rear. The LED flash on the rear has been moved from the left side of the camera (as it is on the Pixel 2) to the right side of the camera sensor. All other components like the fingerprint scanner, power button and the volume keys all retain the same position. The Pixel 2 XL also lacks the 3.5 mm headphone jack.
The Google Pixel 2 XL comes with an always-on 6.0 inch P-OLED capacitive touchscreen and a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection against screen breakage or shattering. The display quality is very high as it rocks a 1440 x 2880 pixels resolution and a high 528 ppi pixel density.
One reservation I have about the screen is that it isn’t a full view display as it still possesses bezels on both sides. Being a flagship device that aims to go toe-to-toe with flagship from other phone brands, a 76.4% screen-to-body ratio is somewhat disappointing considering the fact full view and infinity display is the latest smartphone craze.
PROCESSOR, OS AND STORAGE
The Google Pixel 2 XL comes with the latest version of Qualcomm Snapdragon’s chipset, 835. Being a Google device, it runs the latest Google Android Oreo operating system. The RAM is pegged at 4 GB while the internal memory, 64 GB or 128 GB; depending on the version you prefer.
The CPU of the Pixel 2 XL is made of 8 cores (Octa core) and it runs at a fast speed of 2.35 GHz.
CAMERA AND BATTERY
The Google Pixel 2 XL has a single 12.2 megapixels sensor on the rear and up front, a single 8 megapixels camera. The primary camera enjoys produces clear and well lighted images as it enjoys the support of the dual LED flash. The front camera on the other hand lacks a front facing LED flash.
A non-removable 3,520 mAh Lithium Ion battery Powers up the Google Pixel 2. The device comes with the fast charge feature to compensate for the average battery capacity.

The Google Pixel 2 XL is available in Just Black and Black & White colours. Both versions have the same specs and cost $850.
