Google Pixel Slate, the Mountain View giant officializes the new tablet

Not just Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. During its classic annual event, known as “Made By Google”, the Mountain View giant presented its two new smartphones, particularly awaited by both experts and the public.

However, the day was not entirely occupied by the new phones. Google took advantage of it to launch other devices, including the Pixel Slate tablet. The convertible device is the first tablet officialized by Google in the last three years, and already this detail was enough to arouse some attention towards it.

The most “tasty” feature of the new tablet from Google is the ability to switch from a tablet to a laptop, thanks to the “detachable” keyboard. Pixel Slate is the first tablet of Google to work on Chrome OS – the device is able to offer the user up to 10 hours of battery life. In addition, the tablet has two front speakers and a smart touchscreen display and also provides support for Pixelbook Pen. As we have also seen with other recent Chrome OS offers, also, in this case, there is support for Android apps from the Google Play Store.

Pixel Slate has a starting price of $ 599 (about € 519) and is available in the Midnight Blue color option. The Google Pixel Slate keyboard must be purchased separately (the price is $ 199, about 172 euros, ed); in addition, the Google Pixelbook Pen is priced at $ 99 (about 86 euros). The new tablet will go on sale by the end of the year in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada through Google stores and other partner stores.

Pixel Slate is equipped with a 12.3-inch ‘molecular’ touchscreen display (2,000 × 3,000 pixels) and is also powered by eighth-generation Intel Core m3, Core i5, i7 or Celeron processors combined with 4GB options, 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM. The integrated storage options are 32 GB, 64 GB, 128 GB or 256 GB.

As for the photo industry, Pixel Slate has 8-megapixel rear and front cameras with f / 1.8 and f / 1.9 openings. The tablet is also equipped with a 48 Whr battery that can last up to 10 hours on a single charge and also supports fast charging. Connectivity options include two USB-C ports, 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac Wi-Fi, keyboard connection pins, Bluetooth v4.2 and more. Onboard sensors include a 3-axis gyroscope/accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and half-effect sensor.
