HMD Global hints at imminent launch of the Nokia 5310 (2024) in India

An Indian launch for the Nokia 5310 is coming soon. HMD Global has begun making efforts to gear customers up for the imminent launch of the phone in one of the biggest smartphone markets in the world. According to a tweet from the company’s official handle, the Nokia 5310 is coming back soon. In the tweet, the company includes a reference to the original Nokia 5310 which is the classic Nokia 5310 XpressMusic. HMD Global first launched the phone back in October 2007.

As of now, the company has not given an exact date as to when the device will be launched but its India website already has the phone listed. This leads us to expect the phone going official in India in maybe just a couple of days.

To recall, the original Nokia 5310 which was released back in 2007 comes with a polycarbonate chassis that houses a 2.7-inch screen and a curved glass design. The display has a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The phone comes with a dual SIM slot but it only features 2G connectivity. Under the hood of the Nokia 5210 is a MediaTek MT6260A SoC as well as 16 megabytes of internal storage. On the bottom side of the phone is a micro-USB port for charging.

The Nokia 5310 which we expect to be launched in India in a couple of days features dedicated buttons for controlling music on both sides of the screen. It also features dual front-blasting speakers on the top and bottom sides of the screen. Another feature on the Nokia 5310 (2020) similar to the original device is the wireless FM feature.

It also sports a VGA camera on the backside right next to a LED flash. Surprisingly, the phone comes with a removable battery with a capacity of 1200 mAh. Tests say the battery can last a standby time of 20.7 hours and a talk time of 7.5 hours. It also comes with Bluetooth 3.9 on the NokiaSeries 30+ operating system. The memory of the phone can be expanded via a microSD card slot.

The Nokia feature phone comes with a price tag of 39 Euro (~$44) in Europe and we expect the price in India not to be far off.
