Without much ado, Chinese OEM – Homtom released the Homtom S12 as the kick starting new year smartphone. The Homtom S12 falls in the Homtom full display smartphone ‘S’ series and makes it out as an impressive budget smartphone. The price tag of Homtom S12 is absolutely a stunner given the full view display and design it has in its power pack. DESIGN AND DISPLAY
Homtom S12 cute design is expressed both at the fore and at the rear. The 2.5D Curved Glass at the fore gives the smartphone a crisp outlook while the well-patterned rear design makes the smartphone’s rear very appealing to the eyesight and not just that, also exceptional when felt with the hands. The rear is further blessed with the dual camera setup where the LED flash separates the two cameras, and the ‘HOMTOM’ logo. A well-positioned speaker at the bottom right of the rear is also in place. Android navigation buttons take up the bottom bezel location while the top bezel is the location of the light sensor, earpiece and front camera. White, Blue and Black are the colours this plastic-made Homtom S12 arrives in.
Its full view display is well presented in an average 5.0 inches display size. As sleek as the display is, it’s of the qHD type and puts forward a resolution of 960x 480 pixels. 215 PPI is the pixel density landmark, TFT capacituve touchscreen is the touchscreen type and 18:9 is the aspect ratio.
CAMERA AND CONNECTIVITY
Dual cameras present at the rear with 8MP quality and 2MP quality are responsible for image capturing and video recording activities. A LED flash accompanying these two cameras brightens up the occasion in low light conditions. The selfie camera has a 5MP shooter for the selfies production. Sadly, no 4G network type is available on the smartphone, just the 2G GSM and 3G WCDMA.
CPU, OS, AND STORAGE
A 32-bit processor – Quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 that clocks at a speed of 1.3GHz is the brain behind the Homtom S12’s operations, and it comes along with the MediaTek MT6580. ARM Mali-400 MP2 discharges the graphics operations on this smartphone. One part Homtom busted our bubbles is the implementation of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. In this present dispensation of Android 8.0 Oreo, Marshmallow OS is so yesteryears, so a quick upgrade will be most favorable. 1GB of LPDDR2 RAM handles the multitasking duties of this smartphone leaving the storage of files to the 8GB ROM that can be expanded to 32GB with a microSD card.
