In this guide, we will be showing you just how to download, install or flash MIUI 10 on pocophone F1. The pocophone F1 comes with Android 8.1 Oreo and a special MIUI 9.6 customisation on top. Now, Xiaomi promised steady updates for the device and have been keeping up with their word so far. They’ve already rolled out several minor updates which brings new improvements and fixes known bugs. The MIUI 10 is a major update although still based on Android 8.1 and not Android 9.0 however, it is certain that the Android 9.0 is definitely coming to pocophone F1 later in the future.
For now, you’ll have to make do the latest which is the MIUI 10 beta for pocophone F1 still based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Now, this is the beta version and not the stable version which means you might experience a few bugs as it isn’t properly ready. However, the few users who have flashed this MIUI 10 beta have confirmed that they haven’t experienced any issues thus far which means a stable version of the MIUI 10 for pocophone F1 isn’t far behind.
The stable version is set to roll out before the year runs out so if you wanna wait for that then you wouldn’t wait long. However, if you would like get a taste of MIUI 10 on pocophone F1 right now, then follow the steps below.
First, Unlock Pocophone F1 Bootloader
Before we begin, you’ll need to make sure that the bootloader of your device has been unlocked. If the bootloader of your pocophone F1 Isn’t unlocked then there is no way you can flash MIUI 10 on your device for now. To check if your pocophone F1 bootloader is unlocked, go to Settings >> About Phone >> Tap on the MIUI version repeatedly till you see the “you’re now a developer” notification just below your screen.
Now head back to the Settings Menu >> Additional Settings >> Developer Options >> Scroll down to Mi Device Status and Click on It. You’ll be shown if your device bootloader is Locked or Unlocked. How to Download and Install/Flash MIUI 10 on Pocophone F1
Note – You should back up your important files before you follow the instructions below. Back Up Your Data!!!!
Now that your bootloader is unlocked, we can begin. First, you’ll need to download the files we will be needing for this which are listed below.
If the MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM file was in zip format then we wouldn’t be needing the the MI flash tool as you could just install the update through the settings Menu of your device. However, for the .tgz file, we have to make use of the MI flash Tool.
- Download MIUI 10 Global Beta from the above link and Extract it’s files.

Next, Download and Install the Mi ROM Flash Tool on your PC.

Launch the MI Flash Tool on your PC and Boot your pocophone F1 into fastboot mode by turning off the phone and pressing the power button and volume down button simultaneously till you see the Android logo.

Once the Android logo shows up, Let go of the buttons and Plug in your phone to your PC using a good USB Type-C cable.

On the Mi Flash Tool, Click on Refresh. This will enable the tool detect your device. If it doesn’t detect then you’ll need to try another USB cable.

If it shows a connected device, Click Select at the top left side and navigate to where you extracted the MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM File, Select it and Click on Ok.

Now Click on the Flash button and the process will begin.
This will take a few minutes, be patient. Once that is done, you’ll get a success message on the MI flash tool and your phone will reboot. You can now go ahead and enjoy the new MIUI 10 on your pocophone F1.
