How To Root Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL

How To Unlock Bootloader Of Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL

Before unlocking the bootloader of your device, make sure that you’ve backed up your Important files as this process will wipe all the data on your phone.

  • First, Download The Adb/Fastboot Installer on your Windows PC.
  • Run the File, and Reply with Y To Install the ADB Drivers and also reply Y again to install Fastboot Drivers.
  • After installing the necessary drivers, Goto C Drive (C:) to see the Adb Folder. If the Folder isn’t there then you did it wrong, start over again.
  • On your phone, Navigate to Settings >> About Phone >> Keep on tapping on the Build Number till you see you are now a developer Message.

  • Go back to the Settings Menu and Select Developer Options.

  • Enable Android Debugging Mode or USB Debugging Mode.

  • Still in the Developer Options, Enable OEM Unlock.

  • Now Connect your device to your PC using a USB Cable.

  • Now Open the Adb Folder in your C Drive (C:) on your PC.

  • Press and Hold the Shift Key and then Right Click anywhere in the Folder.

  • Select Open Command Window Here.

  • Type In this – Adb reboot bootloader.

  • Once your phone gets into fastboot mode then simply type in this – Fastboot OEM unlock.

  • if the above doesn’t work then try this – Fastboot flashing unlock.

  • You will see a confirmation message on your Pixel 2 or 2XL device connected to the PC. Use the Volume Up Button to highlight and Power Button to Select.

  • Your bootloader is now unlocked, To reboot type in this – Fastboot Reboot.

You’ve just successfully unlocked your bootloader. Now let’s get on to the next step.

The Magisk Manager Zip file is for Both the Google pixel 2 and 2 XL device. Now that you’ve Downloaded the necessary files needed to root your device, lets begin.

  • Copy the Downloaded Files (Magisk Manager Zip file, TWRP img file, TWRP Zip file) to your Phone’s internal memory, not SD card. (Very important)
  • Connect your phone to your PC and Copy the TWRP img file to the ADB folder in your (C:) Drive.
  • After Pasting it, Rename it to Pixeltwrp.img and save.

  • Disconnect your phone from the PC and Turn off your phone. Press and Hold the Volume Down and Power Button to boot in Fastboot mode.

  • Connect your phone back to your PC Using a USB Cable.

  • On your PC, Navigate to the ADB Folder, Press and Hold the Shift Key and Right Click anywhere in the Folder. Select Open Command Window Here.

  • Type in this – Fasboot boot pixeltwrp.img

  • Your phone will immediately boot in TWRP mode.

  • Click on Install and Flash the TWRP Zip file and then Flash the Magisk Manager Zip File.

  • As soon as you are done flashing both files, then that’s it.

  • That is how To Root Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL phones.

    1. after entering ‘fastboot boot pixeltwrp.img the phone reboots into the screen in orange writing that you can pause by hiting the start button. but there is nothing with a flash option or anyhthing like that. I thought it bricked for a minute but luckily it still functions normally. help?
