Apple has released the new watchOS 5 updates for compatible Apple Watch models. The update is available as an OTA by you can also manually update your Apple Watch to the new update. Read on to learn more.
Update to iOS 12
Before you can update your Apple Watch to watchOS 5, you need to first of all update the iPhone or iPad your Apple Watch is connected to iOS 12. Without this update installed on your companion iOS device, you will not be able to update your Apple Watch to watchOS 5.
You can install the new watchOS 5 updates on any Apple Watch version except Series 0.
How to Get Rid of watchOS 5 Beta Profile
If you have already installed watchOS 5 on your Apple Watch, you, first of all, need to get rid of the beta profile. To do this, follow the steps below.
- Go to your iPhone and launch the Watch app.
- Next up, go to the Watch tab and then tap on General and then Profile.
- Here, you should see all the profiles you have installed on your watch. Tap on the profile you wish to delete and than tao on Delete Profile.
How to Download and Install watchOS 5
- Once you are done updating your companion iOS device to iOS 12, connect to a Wi-Fi network.
- Next, go to the Watch app and then tap on the Watch option.
- Now, tap on General and then tap on Software update. Software update available for your watch will be displayed.
- Proceed with the changelog and select Download and Install.
- Agree to accept the Terms and Conditions.
- A prompt will appear on your Watch. Select proceed and enter your passcode.
After the update has been downloaded your iPhone will transfer it to your watch, and it will be installed. Make sure to charge your iPhone and Watch while downloading and installing the update.
