How to use “Lift up to talk” with Siri on watchOS 5

Apple’s new watchOS 5 update includes a new Siri feature that eliminates the need to say “Hey Siri” or having to press the digital crown to activate the personal assistant.
Instead, you can lift your wrist and speak directly to Siri, thanks to the ability of the Apple Watch to detect your movements and your desire to transmit a command from Siri.

Activate the Lift function to talk on your Apple Watch

To activate this new functionality you will only have to make a small and quick adjustment in your apple clock. Of course, as the company reminds us in its fine print, “the Lift to Talk service from Siri is only available in the Apple Watch Series 3 and later” so, if you do not find this feature, do not go crazy.

If you want to stop saying “Hey Siri” and abandon the task of pressing the digital crown, follow the instructions below:

  1. First, open the Settings app on your Apple Watch
  2. Select the “General” option.
  3. Go to the “Siri” section and press on it.
  4. Activate the “Lift to speak” function in case you have not activated it previously.

From now on, using the “Lift up to talk” function is as simple as raising your wrist to your face and telling Siri what you want.

This gesture is slightly different from the usual one of raising the wrist to check the screen of your watch or use any available application because it requires a longer journey, that is, you need to bring the Apple clock to your mouth (neither is it a matter of sticking it), in order that the device understands that what you want to do precisely is to give some indication to Siri.
