Huawei Honor Play 7 arrives with Full View Display and Android 8.1 Oreo

Huawei Honor Play 7 was launched by the company in China as an entry-level smartphone for those on a budget. The device is very affordable and packs lots of features for light users. It has the trending Full View display and runs on the latest Android operating system.

In terms of specs, there’s nothing spectacular about the Honor Play 7. It has 2GB RAM, 16GB storage and a Quad-Core processor which is perfect for extremely light users. The Honor Play 7 supports dual SIM and VoLTE, there’s a 3.5mm jack as well. Lets find out more.

We know exactly how Huawei and Honor makes their midrange and budget devices these past couple of months. The Huawei Honor Play 7 looks exactly like the 2018 version of most Huawei budget-friendly smartphones. It has a Plastic back and a Metal frame, looking classy as usual.

There’s no fingerprint scanner at the back, which is totally weird. At the top left corner, we can see the rear camera and LED flash in an horizontal position. The device measures 8.3mm in thickness when you turn over to the sides and weighs 142g overall. It’s available in Black, Gold and Blue colors only.

As expected, the smartphone flows with the current 18:9 aspect ratio screen, dishing out a full view experience for users. Looking exactly like all the 2018 versions of Huawei’s Y series. Well, at the bottom bezel we can see the Honor logo.

The front is built around a 5.45-inch HD+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, which displays perfectly well. The screen has a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels and 295 pixel per inch density, for sharp visuals. There’s a 2.5D curved glass protecting the screen, as it stretches up to 74% screen to body ratio with GFF full lamination technology.

Hardware and Software

Under the hood, is the MediaTek MT6739 chip with Quad-Core processor and 64-bit CPU architecture. The 4-Cores of processor here runs at a fast pace of 1.5GHz with 28nm process technology. Handling graphics, is the PowerVR GE8100 which clocks at 570MHz.

The 2GB RAM space here, should handle all your light apps pretty nicely in terms of multitasking. The RAM reaches a memory speed of 667MHz. While for storage, it has a standard 16GB storage space, you can easily upgrade up to 128GB as well. The Huawei Honor Play 7 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Emotion 8.0 UI.

Camera

The 13MP rear camera has f/2.2 aperture and captures stunning photographs with 4160 x 3120 pixels in dimension. There’s a LED flash to assist during night shoots and other internal features to enhance your photography experience. For selfies, there’s a 5MP selfie shooter with f/2.2 aperture as well. The selfie camera supports Face ID and has a dedicated LED flash.

Battery

Powering the Huawei Honor Play 7 is a 3020mAh non-removable Li-Po battery with no fast charging technology. Without the fast charging feature, charging the battery from 0% to 100% might take up to 2.5 hours.
