iPhone Fronted Forbidden In India

Over 1 billion iPhones have been sold since it was introduced a decade ago and made it the world’s most popular smartphone. Its sales in India, however, are less favorable because of the price of the juices that are outdated. Its sales may shrink after the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) wants cellular support to the iPhone to stop because of Apple’s reluctance to place their monitoring app on the App Store.

TRAI develops DND applications to address issues of SPAM-compliant calls and messages in India. But according to Apple, this app can intercept calls and messages that are sent while involving user privacy violations. This makes the application of DND in violation of the terms and conditions of the App Store.

In the latest order issued last Thursday, TRAI issued a six-month period that ordered the manufacturer to provide support to DND. Failure to support this application will cause 3G and 4G cellular support for devices to be stopped by telecommunications companies.

Apple received support from the Indian Cellular Association which said TRAI had no power to direct the device manufacturer. Their power is limited to the issuance of licenses and monitoring of telecommunications companies.
