The Oppo R17 Pro is a newly released powerful phone that follows the Oppo Find X. The phone sport a premium design and also a powerful processor on the inside. Other noticeable features on the front are the small stylish notch and the big screen that is also covered with a corning gorilla glass 6 which is scratch resistant. In the post, we will be comparing the Oppo R17 Pro with the almighty iPhone XS smartphone that was launched this year as well.

iPhone XS VS Oppo R17 Pro – Design

In the design, there are some differences between both phones. For example, the iPhone XS is built with a Stainless Steel and Glass material which gives it a premium feel, while the Oppo R17 Pro is built with an Aluminium Alloy and a glass as well. Though both are equipped with premium material, the Stainless Steel in the iPhone XS gives the phone an edge over the Oppo R17 Pro. The iPhone XS also has water and dust resistant, whereas the Oppo R17 Pro is not protected from dust and water.

The iPhone XS measures 70.9 mm x 143.6 mm x 7.7 mm in dimensions and 177 gram which is lighter than the Oppo R17 Pro that measures 74.59 mm x 157.6 mm x 7.9 mm in dimensions and weight 188 gram. You will also get a fingerprint scanner on the Oppo R17 Pro, while the iPhone XS only support Face ID as a security feature.

The iPhone XS has a screen size of 5.8 inches under OLED Capacitive touchscreen and a screen resolution of 1125 x 2436 Pixels with 463 pixels per inch density. The display also features Super Retina HD promising to bring colorful content into your screen. It’s also scratch resistant and can survive a drop.

The Oppo R17 Pro has a bigger screen size of 6.4 inches Full HD+ with a screen resolution of of2340 x 1080 Pixels and 403 pixels per inch density. The screen is also equipped with an AMOLED display panel and it’s scratch resistant. The iPhone XS will offer great and sharper screen display than the Oppo R17 Pro, while the Oppo R17 Pro has a higher screen to body ratio than the later.

Moving down to the camera, the iPhone XS is blessed with a combo camera on the back that features Smart HDR software that promises superb photos anywhere. The rear camera consists of 12 Megapixels and an additional telephoto lens of 12MP. It has Quad-LED Flash and a front facing camera of 7MP for selfies.

The Oppo R17 Pro on the other hand sports a dual camera setup on the back as well. It has an impressive 12 Megapixels + 20 Megapixels with dual LED flash and the camera also shoot 4K videos. On the front, it has a selfies snapper of 25 Megapixels with F2.0 Aperture, Sony IMX576 Exmor RS, and Face Recognition. Both phones have a great camera with good features that will ensure users get the best shot ever.

On the camera aspect, choosing a winner will be difficult. The Oppo R17 Pro support 4K videos shooting, while the iPhone XS got a special Smart HDR software that will ensure perfect shot and also 4K video capability.

The iPhone XS packs the latest Apple A12 Bionic with Hexa-core that promise to perform faster than its predecessor Bionic A11. It’s built with 7nm process technology and it has 4GB of RAM with inbuilt storage up to 512GB. The Oppo R17 Pro has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 which is not the best around, but it will also offer a decent performance coupled with the 8GB of RAM under the hood. The octa-core processor is running at a speed of 2.2 GHz with 128GB of inbuilt storage and it’s powered by Android 8.1 Oreo.

iPhone XS VS Oppo R17 Pro – Battery & Price

The iPhone XS battery promise to last up to 20 hours of talk time, while the 3700mAh on the Oppo R17 Pro promise to last up to 14 hours of talk time. The iPhone XS support both fast and wireless charging technology, while the Oppo R17 Pro only support fast charging technology.

On the price, the iPhone XS will start selling from $999, while the Oppo R17 Pro will cost around $500.

Our Verdict:

It’s clear that the iPhone XS will perform better than the Oppo R17 Pro, however, the Oppo R17 Pro is also a powerful phone that will perform extremely fast in the Android operating system. If you need an Android or you are considering a good phone that has value for money, then the Oppo R17 Pro is a wise buy.
