One year on from Watch Style and Watch Sport, two not-so-successful smartwatches between audiences and critics, LG is ready to re-launch in the never-taken off sector with a new device featuring Wear OS and, according to rumors, an analog vein that would make it somewhat peculiar in the Wear OS panorama.
Unveiling it is an FCC certification, which goes to corroborate the rumors circulated a few weeks ago about the return of the Korean manufacturer in the smartwatch field. The device is known by the model number LM-W315 – where Watch Style was W270 and Watch Sport W280 – and is accompanied with an image that shows some screenshots of the graphical interface.
From here comes another juicy news, which could affect the operating system in general. One of the screenshots, in fact, brings a menu of the very different app to what was Android Wear 2.0 has accustomed us, no longer vertically scrolling, but a horizontal carousel, with an attached circular perspective game. It is not clear whether the news is due to Wear OS itself, or to the particular analogical nature of the device, which would go alongside the 1.2 “display.
The rest of the specifications speak of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 2100 SoC 768 MB of RAMand 4 GB of internal memory. Present Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, while there will be no data connectivity. On the launch, we are still in the hypothesis, but it is not so risky to think that the stage of the Google I/O 2018 starting on May 8 may be the ideal showcase for a new Wear OS device.
