The Nokia 9 PureView smartphone is finally a reality, after months of rumors and rumors.
HMD Global, the Finnish company that develops mobile devices under the “Nokia” brand, presented the smartphone at a press event held on Sunday in Barcelona, on the sidelines of the Mobile World Congress 2019.
The Nokia 9 PureView, which is part of Google’s Android One program, sees as a strong point the penta-lens photo frame on the back of the smartphone. The camera configuration houses three monochromatic lenses and two RGB lenses, all with the same aperture f / 1.82. Other key features of the phone include a 5.99-inch 2K screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and 6 GB of RAM. The Nokia 9 PureView works with Android 9 Pie as an operating system and includes an improved Pro Camera interface.
According to HMD Global, Nokia 9 PureView will have a starting price of $ 699 (about 649 euros) and will be available for pre-orders right away. Sales will officially open in March 2019. The company reports that the Nokia 9 PureView will be offered in the only Midnight Blue color.
Starting with the phone’s imaging capabilities, the Nokia 9 PureView camera system was developed in collaboration with Light. HMD Global has also partnered with Qualcomm and Google to optimize camera configuration to take full advantage of the Snapdragon 845 chip and to work well with the Google Photos app.
The phone contains five rear cameras with Zeiss certified lenses, which are joined by three 12-megapixel monochrome sensors and two 12-megapixel RGB sensors. Each of these cameras is activated when a person makes the shot; the phone merges these photos together to create a single image. At the front we find a 20-megapixel camera instead.
Among other specifications, the phone is equipped with a 5.99-inch Quad-HD + POLED screen (1440 × 2960 pixels) with an 18.5- 9 aspect ratio and an in-display fingerprint sensor. The Nokia 9 PureView also offers 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of integrated storage and a 3,320 mAh battery with wireless charging support. In addition, the company has included connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC. The Nokia PureView is also IP67 certified for resistance to water and dust and has a USB Type-C port. Absent the 3.5mm audio jack.
