Pixelphone M1 – Review
Midrange smartphone company Pixelphone just released another affordable device today, the Pixelphone M1. The phone looks like a typical Gionee smartphone though, with dual rear camera and fingerprint scanner. The phone is beautiful as well as affordable and perfect for light users. Lets take a thorough review of the device, shall we?
Design
Its Pixelphone, we know they don’t play when it comes to design. Both plastic and metal came together to form this masterpiece, an overall plastic body with metal edges. The device reflects light beautifully, creating shinning white lines at the back. Supporting dual nano sims and available in attractive colors like Gold, Black and Blue.
The dual rear camera on this beauty, were placed vertically at the top left corner. It dishes out a modern day dual shooter vibe with the LED flash righ beside it. It sports a rear fingerprint scanner for fast access to your phone and private apps. Pixelphone M1 measures 8.9 mm slim which is a little too bulky as it weighs 175g. Overall, the design on this smartphone is stunning i must say and quite comfortable to hold.
Display
The Pixelphone M1 is bezel-less with an adequate reduction in bezels. There’s also no physical home button or navigation buttons at the bottom bezel. To navigate through the device you have to do that on the screen, as it boasts of an 18:9 aspect ratio. I can also see the selfie camera and front flash sitting at the top bezel, which is also minimal.

The 5.5-inch isn’t as bad as you may think, the IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen boasts of 640×1280 pixels in resolution. Furthermore, the screen has a pixel per inch density of 260, bringing the details to life. Protecting the screen is a 2.5D Curved Glass Screen offering scratch resistance as well. In general, Pixelphone got to a 75% screen to body ratio on the M1 which is impressive for a midrange.
Hardware and Software
It houses the MediaTek MT6737M chip with 64-Bit CPU architecture, paired with Quad-Core processors. The processor can reach a maximum speed of 1.3GHz, with 28nm process technology. For graphics, the ARM Mali-T720 MP1 processor comes with just 1-Cores and reaches a speed of 600MHz.
No heavy games multitasking here, although the 2GB RAM space would effortlessly accomplish light apps multitasking. The 2GB RAM reaches a memory speed of 640MHz, so its quite reliable for some apps. There’s a standard 16GB internal storage space, for storing everything from apps to movies. You can also upgrade up to 128GB by inserting a memory card in the microSD slot. Pixelphone M1 runs smoothly on Android 7.0 operating system with modified user interface.
Camera
One of the highlights of this device is the dual rear shooters, the dual 13MP + 2MP camera is brilliant. Both cameras will work together to capture 4K resolution images with dimensions of 4160 x 3120 Pixels. Apart from the LED flash there are other quality features to help take quality photos. Like autofocus, continuous shooting, digital zoom, exposure compensation, ISO settings, Panorama, scene mode, white balance settings and others. At the front, there’s a 5MP camera with front flash for beautiful selfies even in low light environments.
Battery
Pixelphone M1 is powered by a 2500mAh Non-removable Li-Ion battery with no fast battery charging feature. It should take at least 2.4 hours to charge the device from 0% to 100%.
