Razer Phone does not have P2 connector for headset; CEO explains reason

As has been the case with Apple’s phones since the iPhone 7, the Razer Phone is another handset that will not come with a P2 headphone jack. Min-Liang Tan, CEO of the company known for the gamer accessories in his Facebook profile, explained some reasons that led to the controversial decision on the model announced in early November.

The response to the brand’s fans is basically the same as that given by Apple – freeing the device’s internal space to improve some components, such as increasing battery capacity. The quality of the audio through the USB-C or Bluetooth port is also superior, according to the president of Razer.

Removing the standard headset jackpot raises a debate among users. Despite the promise of improved audio quality and all the advantages a Bluetooth headset can bring, many people believe that it is a mistake. The biggest problem is the need to use adapters if you do not have a cordless handset and needs to charge the device and listen to music – via a USB-C wired headset, in the case of the Razer Phone – at the Same time.

In the Razer supercell, one of the biggest advantages in removing the P2 connector is a considerable increase in battery capacity. Only with the release of the inner space, Min-Liang Tan said he was able to add about 500 mAh. This was necessary for the device to bring 4,000 mAh, superior to other competing models. With this, the smartphone would be able to play about 60 hours of music on a single charge.

Temperature dissipation has also been improved by removing the connector, according to the CEO. This is an important factor to ensure device performance since the Razer Phone is geared towards games. With more space, it was possible to create a better way to avoid overheating of the components.

With the withdrawal of P2, the smartphone can also deliver more powerful audio. The handset features a dedicated THX-certified 24-Bit DAC that promises movie sound. The idea was to deliver a superior quality to the most demanding users. In fact, the audio of the handset has been highly praised on the Internet.

Min-Liang Tan also highlighted the launch of HammerHead headphones with USB-C and Bluetooth, compatible with the smartphone. The Wireless version can be found for around $ 500. The accessory has eight hours of autonomy.

The main feature of the Razer Phone is the 5.7 “screen with 120 Hz refresh rate and Quad HD resolution (1440 x 2560). Also, the model also comes with Snapdragon 835, considered the best processor among Android smartphones released so far. The device also features 64 GB of storage, 8 GB of RAM, dual camera with 12 MP and 13 MP and Android 7.1 Nougat. The price is $ 699 without import costs. There is no forecast for the model to be officially sold in some countries.
