Resell/Repairs – Apple, Amazon Are Limiting Customers’ Options

In a bid to enhance customer experience, both Apple and Amazon are enhancing customer experience. For example, customers have an option to repair their devices anywhere but Apple prefers or ‘forces’ customers to get their repairs only from Apple-approved vendors no matter what the right-to-repair laws say.

Of course, customers can resell their Apple products, no problem about that but they cannot do it in the largest marketplace in USA, so says an online report. The reasons are there but may not be clear to everyone.

Furthermore, a new agreement between Amazon and Apple will have shoppers soon find a selection of the latest Apple products on Amazon. This is information that Amazon itself has confirmed in recent release. So, what this means that customers will now be able to find latest Apple phones like the iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max listed on Amazon online shopping windows.

With this release, another information came out that the two companies are looking for ways to enhance or improve customer experience. Even though the two tech giants think this is a good idea, customers chafe at it.

Why?

The reason is that it does not sound like a good deal to customers. Commentators are saying that this is a ‘paywalled’ garden put up by Apple and Amazon that will keep all but a select few resellers from participating. That will sort of be an advantage to the resellers and repairers.

The new arrangement is not a good deal because customers think Apple is putting itself first and then placing customers’ interests second. In other words, Apple wants people to do more for it than it wants to do for people. Only then can customers pay for the privilege of being allowed to exercise their first sale rights.

Stores that are independent are urged to pay Apple a fee in return for getting an authorized status and that in return gets them exclusive access to Apple training and guidebooks and also the ability to buy part directly from Apple.

However, authorized shops cannot repair everything. There is a limit to what they can do. So if one comes in other easy repairs not under the watch of authorized repairers, these repair jobs have to be shipped to Amazon.
