While many smartphone manufacturers currently put on an optical sensor under the display, which can unlock the device with a fingerprint, Samsung seems to rely on the new ultrasound technology.
It seems to be faster and more reliable and can work at 30 percent of the display instead of just one place. The technology is probably so good that it could become the only option to unlock the Galaxy S10.
Anyway, the iris scanner seems to be out of the race and to be honest I will not miss it. That was one of the worst unlock options in smartphones for me. Whether the 3D scanner but now also off? It would be conceivable if the ultrasonic sensor is good.
Advantage – Samsung would not need a broad notch.
Yes, the S10 cancels the iris sensor and the ultrasonic fingerprint is enough to replace it.
