The Android One version of the Sharp Aquos S3 was released earlier this month and already available on shopping stores. The phone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo, packs 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage space.
This is coming in anticipation to the update of the Sharp Aquos S2 smartphone. The Android One version is more of a midrange smartphone and comes with a smaller display screen, single rear camera and lots of bezels. Is the Sharp Aquos S3 worth it? Lets find out.
Design
It has a mix Plastic body, that is very comfortable to hold and flaunt as well. It has no rear fingerprint scanner anywhere at the back, just the Sharp and Android One engraving. The rear camera is at the top left corner with the dual-LED flash right underneath.
Moving to the sides now, the volume keys and power button are present as it measures 8.5mm in thickness. The device is very portable to hold and operate, weighing just 143g overall. In terms of colors, you can get it in White, Green, Pink and Black colors.
Display
It has lots of bezels though, that’s unlike Sharp, but keep in mind that it’s a midrange device. There’s no navigation buttons at the bottom bezel, so you have to navigate on the screen. The top bezel houses the selfie camera, speaker grille and ambient light sensor.
The 5-inch FHD IGZO IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is crystal clear, boasting of 1920 x 1080 pixels in resolution. The pixel per inch density stands at 441 and it has 0.0458mm dot pitch, the screen has a 16:9 aspect ratio. Protecting the multi-touch screen is a Corning Gorilla Glass and it got up to 67.37% screen to body ratio.
Hardware and Software
Running the race here is the Snapdragon 430 MSM8937 chip from Qualcomm with 8-cores of processor. The Octa-core processor has a 64-bit CPU architecture and clocks at 1.4 GHz. The Qualcomm Adreno 505 graphics processor is in charge of everything graphics, with a 28nm LP process technology.
For smooth multitasking of heavy apps, the 3GB of RAM has a memory speed of 800MHz. While the 32GB internal storage space is upgradeable up to 256GB using a memory card. The Aquos S3 runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box with Android One touches.
Camera
The 13MP single rear camera has a f/1.8 aperture and captures 4K resolution images. It comes with a dual-LED flash, CMOS sensor, Optical stabilization and other quality features which helps take photographs with 4163 x 3122 pixels in dimension. Record videos of 1080 pixels at 30 frames per second, and take selfies with the 5MP selfie camera that has a f/2.0 aperture.
Battery
Powering the Sharp Aquos S3 up is a 2700mAh Non-removable Li-Ion battery with fast charging technology support. With the technology, it shouldn’t take more than 1.6 hours to fully charge the battery.
