Teclast X5 Pro Tablet PC Review

Going back to tablets, let’s welcome the Teclast X5 Pro. As you may have guessed this device is a 2 in 1 tablet PC giving the user the flexibility of using it either as a tablet or as a PC.

The Teclast X5 Pro tablet PC is a decent device as you’d get to know in this review. Priced at a fairly cheap rate, this tablet PC from another Chinese OEM comes with exciting features that should make it stand against the high end tablets out there.

Design and Display

Released in December 2016, the Teclast X5 Pro comes in a nicely built package. Like Microsoft’s Surface tablets, the X5 Pro offers you a combination of quality and brilliance with slightly tapered edges. There is the usual Windows logo at the front with a black metal frame made of a magnesium alloy. The X5 Pro is quite light on the hands with a weight of 911 grams.

The Teclast X5 Pro sports a vivid 12.2 inch display at the front. The display resolution on the device is Full HD at 1920 x 1080 pixels. The display is bright enough and offers a great visual experience to the user. This tablet PC is enclosed in a slim 8mm thick chassis that is sleek to the eyes and comfortable on the hands.

Processor and Software

The Teclast X5 Pro comes with Intel’s Kaby Lake Core M3-7Y30 CPU. This processor is a dual core type with a frequency of 1.0GHz (can reach up to 2.6GHz with turbo boost). The distinguishing feature of this CPU is its low power consumption. The Core M3-7Y30 processor is a power efficient one that runs on ultra-low voltage. The CPU is complemented by a 9th generation Intel HD 615 graphics processor. This graphics processor is bundled with 24 EUs (execution units) – twice more than the average in others – and performs well enough to drive three different displays at a time.

Teclast X5 Pro is bundled with Windows 10 OS for a rich desktop experience. Download and use apps from the Windows store on this device without experiencing any problems. Also, don’t forget that there’s Cortana – the virtual assistant that comes with Windows 10 – to help keep you organized.

Memory/Storage

You have a large 8GB of RAM in the Teclast X5 Pro tablet PC. This memory size should suffice for most Windows software. This large RAM in conjunction with the processor should allow you to run your favorite apps and games without any hassles.

There is also an SSD type storage with 240GB of space in the X5 Pro. This should be large enough for storing your files and apps. The choice of SSD storage also means that you should experience a faster operation. You can also expand on this via a microSD – up to 128GB.

Camera

Since camera quality is not a major point in tablet PCs, you shouldn’t base your final verdict on this device solely on it. That been said, you have a 5MP rear camera and 2MP selfie shooter at the front.

Battery

Battery life on the Teclast X5 Pro is quite decent, with a video playback time of up to 4 hours. The battery capacity is 5000mAh and charging time takes about 3 to 5 hours to get the battery filled.

Key specifications

  • 12.2” Full HD IPS display
  • Windows 10 Home OS
  • Intel Core M3-7Y30 dual core CPU at 1.0GHz speed
