It is important for budget smartphone to feature attractive specs that somehow makes the price worth paying for. The Ulephone smartphone has a a full metal build alongside 4G LTE connectivity and a fingerprint sensor. So let have a look at this device and see if it is actually worth to be called a budget smartphone.
DESIGN AND DISPLAY
As its name suggest the Ulefone Metal is completely made of aluminium alloy with nicely curved edges. Using CNC technology, the smartphone has a nice attractive polished design.It does not only look good, it feels good as well with a grit blasting that gives the device a premium feel.The front of device has the standard arrangement of proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, microphone and an additional LED light notification. The smartphone is available in three colours, so you get to choose from the black, silver and grey variant.
Also, there are no offscreen capacitive buttons with all the buttons located on screen. The speaker grill is located at the back which is loud with a disrupted quality. Aside the looks and feel, the Ulefone has a dimension of 143 x 71 x 9.35 mm and weighs 155g which is understandable considering the full metal build. A 5-inch 1280 x 720 pixel display is what you get with the Ulephone Metal with a 2.5D Arc screen. The screen has a pixel density of 290 ppi and a Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
CPU, OS AND STORAGE
Now moving to what’s on the inside, the Ulefone Metal is powered by a MediaTek MT6753 octacore processor that clocks at 1.3GHz. The 64 bit processor is combined with an ARM Mali T720 GPU for handling you games and software graphics. The above combination of hardware is enough to give an okay performance, however no stellar performance should not be expected here.
The Ulephone Metals has an internal memory of about 3GB and a 16GB which is expandable up to 128GB using a TF card in place of the micro sim.An Android 6.0 is what comes pre-installed in the Ulefone Metal along with the custom made UI.
BATTERY AND CAMERA
The smartphone is equipped with a lithium ion polymer non removable battery that has a capacity of 3050 mAh which gives you about a day and some hours of use. The rear houses an 8MP camera which can be interpolated to 13MP capable of taking 1080p videos. Howevr the fron has a 2MP camera which can also be interpolated to 5MP for nice selfies.
