Viber now lets users edit sent messages

The popular instant messaging app, Viber has released a new update for its Android App which brings a brand new feature that is not available to other messengers. The new feature gives users the ability to edit their messages even after they have been sent. This feature has been previously available only on the Microsoft owned video calling application Skype.

That is not the only improvement that is brought in the new update as the new version brings users a new and better way to share screenshots with contacts. On the changelog on Google Play Store, it says that the update comes with improvements and bug fixes which would better improve the Viber experience for users.

In order to make use of the new updates, you can go to the Play Store and update your Viber application to the latest version.

To edit already sent messages, tap the message which has already been sent and a dialog box will show which would include the option to edit. Click on the option to edit and make whatever changes you desire to the message as you deem fit. The recipient will, however, see the changes that have been made to the previous message.

The update is only available to Android users as no changes have been made to the Viber application available on the iPhone. This means those iPhone users would not be able to enjoy the improvements that come with new updates like their Android counterparts.  However, we are optimistic that in the coming months the features will also be made available to iPhone users.

We are yet to see if other instant messaging applications like Whatsapp, Telegram, and Wechat will bring these changes to their platform and if they are, how soon should we be expecting them.

Let us know what you think about the ability to edit already sent messages.
