A month after launching its Sapphire Blue Edition, Vivo updated its Vivo V9, proposing a new version with new technical specifications. A decision that has left a little surprised the experts in the field, who are wondering why the company has not chosen to point directly to a new smartphone.
The fact is that the “new” Vivo V9 is a smartphone powered by a Snapdragon 660 processor, which is already a major change compared to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 that Vivo had included in the standard version. Another huge change is the addition of 6 GB of memory instead of the 4 GB RAM with which the basic variant was equipped.
But the changes compared to the original device are not terminated. Even the Vivo V9 camera configuration with 6 GB of RAM was affected by the “restyling.” In fact, Vivo introduced the dual configuration of the rear camera, characterized by two sensors, one from 13MP and the other from 2MP. Also, this variant of the V9 is equipped with a 12 MP front camera. This is a strong “downgrade” of the combination of 16 megapixel + 5-megapixel sensors and the 24-megapixel wide-angle front camera on the front side that we saw on the original Vivo V9.
Regarding design, the Vivo V9 with 6 GB is practically the same device as the one launched in March, with a “borderless” display and a notch that offers up to 90% of screen space at the front. The device is running Android 8.1 Oreo and is also supported by a 3260 mAh battery with support for fast charging. Also present a fingerprint sensor, located in the center of the back cover.
The new version of the Vivo V9 is available in the Red and Black color variants and will be launched in Indonesia at a figure of 260 euros. The device will be on sale starting July 4 – at the moment it is not clear whether the Chinese company will decide to put it on the market in the same markets where the standard version has arrived.
