Xiaomi Mi5C – Xiaomi’s First Surge S1 Chipset Smartphone Specifications, Review and Price

After all the teases and rumours, the long-awaited device from Xiaomi, Xiaomi Mi5C has finally been launched. Prior to the launch, the Mi5C had been leaked online with High-end specifications and classy images that shook the internet. The launch of Xiaomi Mi5c however also came with a surprise, an unannounced and unexpected one. Xiaomi pioneered the use of its own processor and chipset– Surge S1″ on the Xiaomi Mi5C.

Now let’s breakdown the features of this device.

The Xiaomi Mi5C, just like every other device from Xiaomi, didn’t disappoint design-wise. The Mi5C is a classy smartphone that wears a premium look due to beautiful metal finish and round 2.5 D edges. It has a home button (which doubles as the Fingerprint scanner) right underneath the display screen and the power and volume buttons are right on the device right side. The device is available in 3 different color variants; Gold, Black and Rose Gold.

The Mi5C houses a High-Quality 5.15 inch Full HD display of 1920×1080 pixels resolution. There is also an amazingly small screen-to-body ratio as the bezel measures 1.6 mm thin.

The device also has 2048 brightness levels with ultra-precise backlight controls unlike the 256 brightness levels most device commonly have. This is as a result of the new Surge S1 chipset Xiaomi used on the device. The ultra-precise adjustment level ensures that you get the best brightness possible regardless of the surrounding light situation – light or dark.

The Xiaomi Mi5C is powered by the new Surge S1 Chipset with octa-core 64-bit processor (2.2GHz quad-core A53 + 1.4GHz quad-core A53). In assistance are the 3GB of RAM and 64GB ROM. You can do as many things as you want all at the same time on this device. Multitasking and app functioning promises to be fluid and smooth. This device storage is expandable to up to 128GB with an external Micro SD card.

The Mi5C runs on Xiaomi’s custom MiUI operating system. However, according to Xiaomi, by March 2017, there will be a Android Nougat 7.1 update for the Mi5C.

On the rear, there is a 12-megapixel primary camera with Sony’s IMX 378 sensor and af/2.0 aperture. Additional camera features like Auto-focus featured with Geo-tagging, face detection and HDR makes the Mi5C churn out beautiful high quality images.

The secondary camera is an 8-megapixel selfie shooter on the front and it takes well lighted crystal clear selfies as well as high-quality video chat.

XIAOMI Mi5C Fast charge

The Xiaomi is kept alive by the non-removable battery pack. The battery capacity seem quite little when compared to the processes the device handles. But with Xiaomi battery optimization features on its MIUI, a 100% charge should last a full day on light usage. Besides, even if you run low on battery juice, Xiaomi’s quick charge technology( 9V/2A) got you covered.

The Xiaomi Mi5C is a stunner! Cheetah-fast processor, 3GB of RAM, amazing camera, scintillating display, latest Android OS and good battery capacity with fast charge. Any one who still believes this device isn’t a stunner?
