Xiaomi plans to launch a Smartphone with rugged features next year

When we talk about the robustness or durability of a smartphone we are emphasizing that it must meet at least 3 key points, it must be waterproof, shockproof and dustproof. Most of us are more afraid of dropping our phone accidentally or getting it wet, (these are also the two most common actions). Therefore, any smartphone regardless of its price and the category to which it belongs should have at least these two characteristics. Fortunately, today, the waterproof smartphone has become a new trend. Today it was learned that Xiaomi would launch a new device or perhaps a new line of smartphones that will incorporate these three main features that, possibly in the not too distant future,

Many premium smartphones that look good in front of the iPhone 8, Samsung Galaxy S8, Sony Xperia XZ1 and LG V30 are waterproof. As for Chinese phones, only some flagships come with IP67 and/or IP68 certificates. Among them, we can mention the Huawei Mate 10 Pro which was recently released. Of course, there is also the AGM X2, which is considered the most robust phone with high-end features, but it is a quite different topic for conversation. Now, when Xiaomi enters this particularly interesting sector of the market, we can wait for other manufacturers to follow in their footsteps and launch similar models as well.

Could it be the Xiaomi Mi 7 this Smartphone announced?

Rumors say that Xiaomi’s new phone will hit the market in the first half of next year. Many followers think that it will not be a new line but a specific model. In addition, they are sure that it will be the Xiaomi Mi 7. It has already been heard that the Mi 7 could include IP68 certification, so it is probably the first phone of the company to incorporate these 3 resistant functions.

Lei Jun, the CEO of Xiaomi, last year responded to why the company had not launched any Smartphone to the market with protection against water and dust, (since only some specific models have protection against splashes). Lei Jun commented that in general, it is an expensive and inefficient process. So to implement it, the cost of smartphones would increase significantly, making it quite challenging to maintain the tight pricing policy that has made the Chinese company famous. Also, the process is quite deteriorated, since, with any blow received by the mobile phone, it could cause it to lose its impermeability.

But it seems that the time has come when Xiaomi has decided to consider certain aspects before this important feature, we will see how it goes. We can only wait until we get more information to share with you, for now, this is all we have.
