Recently, Gearbest delighted us with another Xiaomi smartphone aimed at the most economical market, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus. Before now, we reviewed the Xiaomi Mi 5X, which is also known as Xiaomi Mi A1 globally.
The big Chinese company officially launched two full-screen smartphones at the same time, which were the Xiaomi Redmi 5 and the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus. The Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is also called Xiaomi Redmi Note 5. The price of these was between $ 150.99 and $ 199.99, which makes these models the cheapest full-screen phones that come from a leading brand. Therefore, the Redmi fifth-generation models come with the latest and most modern technologies at a lower price. Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus Box
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus comes in an orange box that breaks with the minimalist scheme in a sense, since this is not at all saturated with images and so on, but as we mentioned, the orange color turns out to be so bright that it is impossible to go unnoticed, in fact, we can say that it can even make you want to get one for yourself, a madness right? On the front, we can see the name of the device written in white letters, while in the upper right corner, we will see the classic Xiaomi logo.
The first thing you will notice is that the packaging is not different from all other Xiaomi smartphones we have seen. On the back, we will be able to see the size of the screen, the type of camera, the capacity of its battery and the processor it has.
We must emphasize that this Redmi 5 Plus we have here with us is the global version and so, there is no Chinese language printed on it. This highlight the fact that this device was born for the international market.

Inside, we have with the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus, a transparent cover, a user manual, its respective charger, a micro USB cable and a tool that will be of great help when ejecting the tray for micro SIM and microSD cards.
While removing the top cover of the box, you will be presented with a small box containing the transparent rubber case for the device, which is placed on top of Redmi 5 Plus with the accessories under.
FIRST Impressions
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus presents the classic style of Xiaomi, which glimpses a simple but forceful design, in fact, as we mentioned earlier this resembles the Redmi 5, to such a point, that if we are not very knowledgeable of both we can confuse them.
The unit we unboxed is black, which helps to enhance the beautiful design with rounded edges on the body and the display.
Having the phone in our hands, we can see its dimensions of 158.8 x 75.45 x 8.05 mm and its large screen of 5.99 inches, seeing as well as has an aspect ratio of 18 – 9. In the lower part, you will not get anything out of the ordinary, like in the upper part, where you can get to the respective cameras for selfies.
This smartphone is made of aluminum alloy, which gives greater resistance to shock, falls and scratches, but without reaching the category of ruggedness, so we should not abuse this feature.
On the back of this device we can see the style that Xiaomi has been implementing on their phones: simple and elegant. On the back you will see the main camera, this has a resolution of 12 megapixels and an aperture f/2.2 with focusPDAF, which is accompanied with a double-tone flash, and followed by a fingerprint sensor. AT the rear bottom is the respective Mi logo, which is already a tradition in Xiaomi phones.
At the top, you will see the 3.5mm headphone jack, a port that is gradually being eliminated from the device, but in this case, as we are facing a mid-range device, it still remains. There is also a noise cancellation mic at the top together with an infrared blaster.
On the left side, you have the slot for the nano-SIM cards, as well as micro SDcard.
It can support 2 nano-SIM cards simultaneously and a single space for micro SD card.
On the right side, you will appreciate the volume control buttons, as well as the on / off button.
At the bottom of the device, you have two sets of grills standing side-by-side. The grills on the left are where the mic of the phone is embedded, while the one on the left is the loudspeaker.
At the middle of these sets of grills is our micro USB 2.0 port, which is not a thing of joy to us. To charge the device you will have to use the USB cable and the charging brick that accompanied the device.
Although Xiaomi does not change the design of its phones, we can see that, with each launch, this great company changes little by little the way in which it presents its products to the world, either with the position of the cameras, the size of their screens, or simply with the level of simplicity.
The Redmi 5 Plus offers us its own characteristics of a mid-range device, which is why in terms of performance we will be in the standard, although for the price that comes along with the configuration of cameras, it becomes a very temptress. It comes with a Snapdragon 625 processor which has 8 cores at a frequency of 2.02GHz, for the graphics card (GPU), we have an Adreno 506 which is combined with a memory RAM of 4GB and a built-in storage of 64GB, the latter can be expanded up to 128GB and finally you will opt for a non-removable battery with a capacity of 4000mAh which has fast charging technology.
