The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro was launched today in India by Xiaomi. The device comes with an iPhone X looking dual rear camera, of which the company named “India’s Camera Beast”. Its quite a beast alright, capturing 4K resolution images. But apart from the dual rear camera, are there any major upgrades from the Redmi Note 5? Well, lets find out.
Design
To be honest, the vertically positioned dual rear camera at the top left sure adds to the beauty of this device no doubt. Made from Aluminum Alloy and available in so many different colors, the Redmi Note 5 Pro is a beauty to behold.

However, the antenna line which is above the dual rear shooters is not ideal and makes the phone look cheap. The fingerprint scanner is still at the back in order to achieve a Full View display, which got up to 77% screen to body ratio. I’ll talk more about that at the display section. The device measures 8mm slim by the sides and weighs 181g overall. Weighing more than the Redmi Note 5 by just 1g.
Display
Its bezel-less, boasting of 77% screen to body ratio. The bezels could have been further reduced if Xiaomi wanted to, with the bottom bezel being vacant. Nevertheless, the screen is quite brilliant overall, lets take a look and see what the fuss is all about.
So i’m guessing the word ‘Pro’ doesn’t necessarily translate to a bigger screen? It sports the same screen with the Redmi Note 5, a 5.99-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. The screen boasts of a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels and 403 pixel per inch density as well. The 2.5D multi-touch curved glass screen offers scratch resistant for clear visuals.
Hardware and Software
The beast underneath this beauty is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chip with Octa-core processor. The processor reaches a clock speed of 1.8GHz with 14nm process technology. It has a 64-bit CPU architecture while the Qualcomm Adreno 509 graphics processor is in charge of everything graphics.
There are two variants in terms of RAM and internal storage, one with 4GB RAM and a much expensive variant with 6GB. While for storage, there’s a cheaper one with 32GB and a much expensive version with 64GB. They are both upgradeable up to 128GB using a microSD card in the sim 2 slot. The Redmi Note 5 Pro runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with the latest MIUI V9.7.9 user interface.
Camera
This is the highlight of the device, a dual 12MP (f/2.2 aperture, 1.25 μm pixel size) + 5MP (f/2.0 aperture, 1.12 μm pixel size). Both camera are meant to work together to deliver 4K resolution images. The Sony IMX486 Exmor RS CMOS Sensor with other features and dual-LED flash will capture photographs with 4000 x 3000 pixels in dimension.
Record videos of 1080pixels at 30 frames per second, while for selfies, there’s a 20MP Sony IMX376 Sensor that won’t fail you. The selfie camera boasts of 5P lens, a pixel size of 1.0μm and face recognition.
Battery
Powering the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is a 4000mAh non-removable Li-Po battery, the same with the Redmi Note 5. Charging duration from 0% to 100% should take more than 2 hours.

But the obsession of chinese companies with Apple, when will it end? This is a blatant rip-off of iPhone X camera.
I do appreciate the price and features but this copying Apple just to look like it has to stop.
