These two smartphones have a simple design to offer us. The Samsung Galaxy A6 Plus comes with a front glass and metallic unibody. At the top and bottom back of the phone is an antenna line in form of a u-shape. The fingerprint sensor is mounted at the back above the Samsung brand name and below the centered dual rear camera setup. The LED flash is on the right hand side of the dual rear camera. While the Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with a front glass and aluminum unibody. The Redmi Note 5 Pro also has antenna line that cuts straight at the top and bottom back. The fingerprint sensor of the Redmi Note 5 Pro is rear mounted and the Xiaomi brand name is at the bottom center. At the top left corner is a dual rear camera set-up with a LED flash in a vertical position.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro measures 158.6 x 75.4 x 8.1 mm in dimensions while the Galaxy A6 Plus measures 160.2 x 75.7 x 7.9 mm. None of them is water or splash resistant. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro offers Black, Champagne Gold, Rose Gold and Lake Blue body colors. While the Galaxy A6 Plus Black, Gold, Blue, and Lavender. The design is always down to preference and hard to choose which one got the best design and durability. But if I were to pick, would go with the Samsung Galaxy A6 Plus. The Redmi Note 5 Pro looks so ordinary in my eyes.

Samsung has spread their infinity display to their mid-range smartphones. So the Samsung Galaxy A6 Plus features a 6.0 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen with 75.3% screen-to-body ratio. The display of the Galaxy A6 Plus comes with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio, 1080 x 2220 pixels resolution and 411 PPI density. While the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro features a 5.99 inch IPS LCD touchscreen with 77.4% screen-to-body ratio. The Redmi Note 5 Pro’s display comes with a 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution, an 18:9 aspect ratio and 403 PPI density.

An unspecified version of Corning Gorilla Glass protects the display of the Redmi Note 5 Pro. With similar screen size and display resolution, it’s the screen technology that differentiates these two smartphones. The Super AMOLED display featured on the Galaxy A6 Plus is better than the IPS LCD display on the Redmi Note 5 Pro.

The camera of both the Redmi Note 5 Pro and Galaxy A6 Plus are great for a mid-range device. The Galaxy A6 Plus’s dual rear camera consists of a primary 16MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture, a secondary 5MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture, phase detection autofocus and LED flash. At the front is a whopping 24MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture and LED flash. The phone should be able to take quality pictures and good selfies.

For the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is a dual rear camera that features a primary 12MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture, a secondary 5MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus, and dual-LED flash. The Redmi Note 5 Pro can also take quality selfies thanks to a 20MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy A6 Plus features the better camera specs. And it will be hard for the Redmi Note 5 Pro to win in this category.

Powering the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 coupled with Adreno 509 graphics processing unit. While the chipset in the Redmi Note 5 Pro also carries 8-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz. The Snapdragon 636 chipset has more RAM and download speed than the Snapdragon 450 chipset. And it also uses big.LITTLE technology, which isn’t available to the Snapdragon 450 chipset.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro runs on MiUI 9.0. skin overlaid on top of Android 7.1.2 Nougat out of the box. While the Galaxy A6 Plus runs on Samsung experience skin overlaid on top of Android 8.0 Oreo. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro features a 64GB internal storage with either a 4GB or 6GB memory. While the Galaxy A6 Plus features a 64GB storage with 4GB memory or a 32GB storage with 3GB memory.
