Xiaomi Redmi Y2 is receiving the MIUI 10.0.4 update – all the news

Xiaomi Redmi Y2 is receiving in these hours the MIUI 10.0.4 update that brings with it several very interesting news. One of these is undoubtedly the improvement of Portrait mode, but the latest update is also improving the stability of the camera and solve a problem that affected the portable hotspot.

This new update comes a few weeks after Xiaomi’s release of the MIUI 10 Global Stable ROM for the Redmi Y2. Redmi Y2 is a variant of Redmi S2 and was launched in June with MIUI 9.5 on Android 8.1 Oreo. Its main selling points are the 5.7-inch HD + display, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor and the dual rear camera, with a 12-megapixel sensor and another 5-megapixel sensor.

The announcement of the update appeared on the MIUI forums. Although this is not an update as important as the previous MIUI 10 Global Stable ROM, we are still facing an update that improves the background blur of the Redmi Y2 front camera to offer an improved “selfie” experience, especially when using Portrait mode.

The official changelog shows that the MIUI 10.0.4 update for Redmi Y2 also solves the problem that prevented some users from unlocking the device after touching a lock screen notification in MIUI 10.

Like any other software update, MIUI 10.0.4 for Redmi Y2 is distributed in batches. Therefore, it may take some time before it reaches all devices. However, you can check availability on Redmi Y2 by selecting Settings> About phone> System updates> Check for updates. The user can also check for updates on their device via the Updater app.

Alternatively, Xiaomi provided the Recovery ROM and Fastboot ROM packages – the Chinese giant advises all users to back up the data before starting the upgrade process.
