Xiaomi’s first Android Go phone – Redmi Go gets a 16GB storage variant for $69

Xiaomi first launched its Android Go smartphone dubbed Redmi Go in March this year. The Redmi Go smartphone was Xiaomi’s first and only phone running Android Go-edition OS, designed by Google for entry-level phones. The phone packs just 1GB of RAM and has just 8GB of storage and it carried an 80 Euros price tag in Europe. However, Xiaomi has announced a new variant of the Redmi Go with 16GB of storage.

The new 16GB storage variant will be available in India first, where it will retail for Rs. 4,499 (~$69). The modified storage is the only distinguishing feature between this variant and the 8GB storage model. Xiaomi Redmi Go- Specifications and Features

Here’s a recap of the budget Redmi Go specifications. The Redmi Go comes with a polycarbonate body with a cool trim. It packs a 5-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Under the hood is a 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor which powers the device. Like other Android Go phones presently in the market, the Redmi Go comes with just 1GB of RAM and as of now is available in 8GB/16GB storage options. There is a MicroSD card slot for expanding the storage. For photography, there is an 8-megapixels with f/2.0 aperture rear camera with an LED flash as well as a 5-megapixels front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture for selfies. The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) and packs a 3,000mAh battery. The phone also has dual SIM support (4G), a 3.5mm audio jack, and a MicroUSB port for charging and which also functions for data transfer.
